Defeater Plug

I notice on the JRR Shop website a plugin called a defeater.
"The Defeater plug allows you to use your Pulsar-Scope soundcard as an SRB dsp card." What is this exactly and why is it necessary?

that's what they call it... interesting.
although I'm not 1000% sure it must be that jumper block that "disables" the I/O section of the card and makes it a dsp booster for xtc mode (well, I think actually it's a bit more complicated).
there is a thread called Scope in xtc mode + Protools LE 7.3 WORKS !!!! that gives you hints on that as well as this thread and this one.
