advice needed on monitor speakers bass tilt rolloff settings

Post by ARCADIOS »

i have genelec 1032a.

the manual has a few standard possible choices, but i guess i need some help if possible.
what is bass roll off? and what tilt exactly?

possible other settings?

the ideal room is i guess the fully damped studio.
in case of normal vibrand room, what options are there for less booming.

the conversation is about montors in general but also about the specific issues.

fix the room. use the speaks in the flat position. anything else is a shot in the dark, pissing in the wind...

I just moved, and have a pair of genelcs set up in a very "hard" room with concrete walls and wood floors.. for a quick cheap fix, I hung curtains on all hard surfaces that I could get to, put down a rug, and also spent time finding a good "non booming" distance to put the genelecs.

My room is an acoustical mess I know, but simple things will make it quickly "workable".

Agree with both of the above. When I move I try to do my best to find a larger room now these days, deep enough that I can set the speakers 1 meter or so from the walls in rear/sides and not have to sit in the 'middle' of the room as a result.

Check response. try room eq wizard and you may put some bass trap and see again the result. and as garyb said flat position is better and set rfz.
