Hi Everyone, I was wondering if you guys could please give me some opinons regarding the Pulsar Pro Pack.

1)How do you compare the pro pack mixer vs the bigmixer v2.
2)How valuable is the propack to those of you that have bought it.
3)How stable do you find it?
4)What are are your likes and dislikes about the package?

Thanx in advance fellas.

1. heaven and hell... (just one of the many advantages in favor of PM: stereo channels. they really outnumber the disadvantages, like the ,imho, clumsy panel switching)
2. i never regretted this very cheap deal.
3. i haven't come across any issues regarding instability.
4. you get the pulsar mixer, various fx, like a descent vocoder, lightwave synth, STS3000! and ModV2. if you buy the last two devices seperately, you'd have to pay more than the pro pack price!!! i see no disadvantages here.

1)The Pulsar mixer is the best thing about the Propack. I haven't used the Big Mixer since I got Pulsar Mixer.
2)The mixer and Mod2 are more than worth the price of admission. Throw in the Lightwave, STS3K, and effects... - get the Propack while you still can.
3)As stable as your system. The Pulsar Mixer is the heart of my system, rock solid.
4)All of the above.

This is my little review of the Pro Pack:

It's an incredible high quality package for a very low price. Everything is useful. Modular V2 is much better than V1, it sounds different too and it sound is richer and fuller. I didn't have the M2, so my buy was exceptionally good. I already got the STS4000, but it's nice to have the 3000 too, for smaller projects.

The qualities of the Plug-ins are superb! Really nice, probably, the best way to define them would be with the word “smooth” and “worm”, which is uncommon for these kind of plug-ins!

M2 it's the Queen of the party, no doubt! I was impressed by the sound quality. I've tried Reaktor and there is no comparison, unless you are talking about some very complex patches that sound fantastic. For example:

Mystic Journey 2, a really fantastic synth! Superb!

Impressed by Partials Sample Pool, cos you can use 16 notes polyphony, but the sound of course, it’s not as sharp and fat, but certainly very practical and useful.

Unfortunately, for my four DSP card Pulsar Plus I, a few synths would not even load, like the Ambitosphere Box.

Fasic FM with Filter: very good E pianos, really useful for so many things. Fantastic!

All those kind of machines like Blues for man, sounds quite empty, or… don't know, like a bad radio… Didn't like any of the machines at all, I would never use something like that. If anybody has experienced with Rebirth knows the difference. The sounds in Rebirth are incredibly inspiring, those are incredible uninspiring. Clubbing Patch is quite the same for me as all the other machines.

Dist-taste, don't know what to say, not very useful and extremely big!

E-Pianos, quite good and very useful... I realise that I give my yes or no to a device or synth in regard to the level of usability it has, this is the point, isn't it?

FM Plus, very useful, great sounds and possibilities! Nice organs out of it!

Heavy Machinery, really fantastic, superb! I liked it particularly much.

Hybrid, extremely useful and flexible, very good indeed!

Modulacoder, too big for me, can't use it. Same with Modulasinger.

Pad Machine, extremely useful, real great sounds out of it, with many possibilities.

********************************************

1) The Pulsar Mixer is better than the Big Mixer 2, but it's difficult to get at it, there is so many possibilities, it's great! It's probably subjective, cos I don't have how to prove it, but Pulsar Mixer seems to sound better, more transparent than the other mixers.

2) I think that I bought a PERFECT BUY!

3) Stable? I'm not sure what you mean, but it works fine. Pulsar OS has some minor problems still, but the Pro Pack is something else, you can not say it’s stable or unstable. Anyway, everything appears to work fine for me.

4) I like everything; it's a damn useful package!

********************************************

Hope I have answered your questions, so be a happy user of the Pro Pack

I you can still get it, I would recomend it. To me, the modular2 is such a great tool. I do not do songs with it yet, but I learn about synthesizers and effects, and I get new creative ideas for sound processing.
