oke, this is my dream: a Reaper Scope version (a jointventure between S|C and Chokos?!), that features full integration with the host, mixer and effects and free routing (just like in Scope OS) but all inside Reaper, total recall!!!

I would be happy as a peach if Reaper had the ability to do some of what Logic can do in terms of midi processing & routing. It doesn't even need a 'full' environment, just something beyond simple input & output plugins that require using dozens of 'dummy' tracks just to do simple processing (which is what I experience in Cubase for instance.) Otherwise I really quite like Reaper and it's my preferred sequencer under Windows these days (especially since my license of Nuendo is positively ancient--1.53, and I'm finding multicore performance under Reaper 2 & 3 to be so much better than the issues I experience under Sx3.)
As for this whole 'meta' midi processing bit, back when Tracktion was still emerging it 'almost' got it right with the ability to do processing chains in an editable area below which shows the selected track's processing. But it never really expanded on the initial toolset once Mackie took it under their umbrella...
I had hopes that the Ableton+Cycling74 combo might bring some interesting 'meta' processing to Live, but alas it seems like they're just opting for a 'max' plugin built into Live. My dreams of using a single knob or key to control several UI elements at once (ie, in "MIDI map mode") were dashed...though plugin racks do mitigate this somewhat for sound generation sources (plugins).

Ach so, this is because I use midi at simple level, just as "recorder" (and editor) of that I play with my keyboard... yes maybe Reaper lacks of some deep midi editing and routing, but I hope for version 4.x

Just look at how far this app has come.
Sure it isn't bloated to the point of nonsense, but this guy adds more and more everytime.
The MIDI is basic and simple, but I use these apps like a multitracker and don't even like quantizing unless it's a drum track.
Sounds better to me when I monitor the drum tracks ( quantized ) while I perform live as an overdub with other instruments.
The tempo manipulation on this app is better than Spubase, and although it's simple, it's solid.
I don't have dropped out MIDI events like Spubase has.
Keep it simple and stable, and add a little here and there.
Hey they beat Yamaberg to having a stable 64bit version, so I guess it's easier to fix and add things when they are so bloated.
Spubase might bring unique bells and whistles every $pgrade, but they leave a trail of unfixed bugs behind them like like road apple from a horse.
They also ban customers who don't fall in line with "their " idea of what should added.
It reminds me of a large worthless Government that thinks they know what's best for me, while they rake in cash.......................Bull Puckey.
I wouldn't use it unless it was good at midi as Cubase is. The problem with being slim is there are few features, also they would have to remove Brad Sucks for me to try it again.
Reaper's focus has always been audio. This recent release has included some good upgrades to the MIDI side of things, as a result of user requests and encouragement. I think it will continue to grow.
I find it satisfactory, and always improving. This release indicates that Cockos is very responsive to it's users, something that disappeared a long time ago from Steinberg, even before Yamaha slurped them up.
I mostly miss the score and the logical editors. What are you guys missing?
I don't have any demands for Cubase because I like it the way it is. The list of features I use is too long to mention. Some of the ones I use every days are quantize ends, equal length, delete doubles, restrict polyphony, random notes. I could go on and on. I don't think Reaper will ever be for me plus I know Cubase so well that I don't have to think about how to do things when I use it which is a huge advantage
The 'Cockosians' at the beach will continue to mimick the best features of other more mature DAWs until they 'hit the wall' with more bug and feature list requests, then the updates will slow.
Soon it will be just another DAW.
It's good for keeping the industry humble though, which is probably a good thing.
Well it does have 960 ppq but it does lack advanced editing features.
It's the app to have in a couple more years IMHO,and yes we will have grown accustomed to it and they too will want more money for the next upgrade.
They all become the same overbloated bull shit at the end of the day.
Call me old and moronic, but VDAT and a hardware sequencer are so easy fast and bug free for me, but I don't use the audio in any of these apps. or I would need Spubase, Tragic or Blonar.
Bloat doesn't matter if you have a fast computer. I could care less what the size of it is. I want features. You will never be able to use Reaper to score a video while watching it play.

Not in the current version but there's no reason why that couldn't be added if he felt it was worth supporting. Besides which, users competing over featurism of your chosen app is dumb, if something works for a given task for you great! If not that's fine too but imo it's silly to put it down if others find it useful. I couldn't be less interested in Magix Music Maker but that app is still around so it must serve some purpose for someone out there...
