After 3 weeks of playing sax I managed to squeak out a few notes. Now I dropped it and it needs a repair!

It fell off a chair. I need a stand. If you lay it on the side, spit goes in the mouthpeice and then cold spit goes into your mouth.

I never listened to Keith but he does a lot of improvisation which is how I play.

It will be $300 to repair but the good news is it will be better than new meaning it will play more in tune. I actually tuned the sax with Cubase . I guess it is true what they say about Chinese saxophones. Perhaps they are made for Chinese music which has a different intonation .

Knowing the Yamaha WX 5 actually is helping a lot now that I am getting used to it.

I had to work with the EQ, and delay to get the effect quite a bit.

I only wish I knew sax as well as I do keyboard. It's a very physical instrument. It vibrates your head and sends too much oxygen to your brain. You can make overtones and ugly modulations.

I took it up because in recent years I have become interested in jazz and because it is cheaper than classical reed instruments.

sort of reminds me of a shakuhachi going through its harmonics. I think the more embochure muscle you build up, the easier it will be to control the timbre and pitch. Takes months and years though. I like the piano sound.

I'm still thinking about masking it with effects but ultimately it's better to just know how to play.

I was at my friend's house a few days ago and he says his saxophones (he owns 5) never collect saliva even after hours of playing because he has a dry mouth. The condensation theory is a myth.

As a long-time tubist, i have an interest, as i've endlessly been told "eeeuuwww, spit!" when clearing the horn. My general answer is "that ain't spit, it's a combination of snot & urine"

Anyway, i don't see anything like a hoiked-up street oyster in what comes out of my tuba - more like what you see when warm, moist air hits a cold, smooth surface

Back to the saxomophone - about 3 months of steady practise and you'll have developed the embouchure to let rip some more. Blow that horn!
