I'm normally not a big fan of dsp plugins running on both Native processor and dsp cards, and i think that using Native power for dsp plugins defeats one of the purposes of buying dsp cards in the first place, and also it states that the card is indeed a dongle........

I tend to agree, but native processing power increases much faster than DSP power - and is Duende the only system that use native power for processing?

When Duende combines DSP and Native power it will have the following benefits :

Low latency - the system doesn't have to move the sound data over the PCIe/FW....
Faster than realtime rendering in DAWs - because its native based....

But you would see an increase in CPU usage for each plugin instance you load.

Does the above sounds like another new system??????

Think of Xite as a 150 DSP scope card and go from there

Solaris 4.1 had 900+ parameters, 5.0 & 5.1 have around 15% more according to my tests.
Synths like this are the ones that can bring a Sharc to it's knees with 16 voice poly.
Ahh,...no biggie though.
Solaris in hardware has 6 x ADP21369's running @ 96k internal processing, and that should be 16 voice poly standard w/ unison stackage too.....

If you get a chance to see the Doepfer booth, there's a really neat synth based off of thier Analog Modular modules called Dark Energy.
It is also another " soon " type of product, but there is no mention of it's polyphony but 2 pages of hyped up scientific possibilities.

That's true for the power part of the equation, but there are other million dollar questions. Did Sonic Core remove voice limitations software-wise? And if they did then by how much? Will 3rd party synth developers need to do anything and will i need to wait for a update to Solaris and Prowave?

The hybrid processing approach for plugins has been a theory kicked around for awhile that i never cared for in the past but i think SSL is the first to fully impliment it. Does'nt the UAD-2 use alot of Native processing power when in Live-mode? I know that's not considered the same as fully running Native for some plugins but it might aswell be .

Native processing power does increase faster then dsp but if Platforms like XITE-1 allows for cascading multiple cards then is'nt adding a second XITE to your system considered a HUGE increase of power that will last most people many more years? If dsp platform cards are powerfull then adding another one to your system should provide very sufficient upgrades that last many years unlike some older dsp cards. And the price of newer dsp cards should also go down over time and the newer UAD/XITE cards are scalable to increase the number of dsp's present on their cards.

As time passes and new dsp's come to market platforms are able to be created that have power to last many years and i think this is what is happening with UAD and XITE-1. It can take many years for a computer's power to double in amount unless intell continues Core-stacking wich does'nt solve all problems, adding a extra XITE or UAD-2 Quad to ones system is a instant HUGE upgrade for most people i'm sure. Especially since we use computers aswell. The million dollar question for SCOPE users is will S|C allow for several XITE's to be chained together for longtime platform endurance and really good alternative to Computer-only set-ups? If i bought SSL duende i'd still want to see the dsp power increased at some point rather then just depending on Native the rest of the way. Many of us have observed our own power needs with computers over the years and know the need can increase dramatically at any given time. Sometimes it's just adding a new plugin to the arsenal when that plugin is very power-hungry. I took a huge power need increase the day i stopped using Propellerheads Reason as my main app, i took another huge increase the day i decided i prefered 96khz, etc. Running the duende plugins on my Native processor looks good ATM cause i just bought a powerful Quad-core and have extra power but years down the road i may not like it. I don't wanna have to upgrade my computer faster then i should and when i do upgrade i may not be interested in 8/16/24 cores to see a huge increase in power.


PS. I Just think bringing more dsp power to the market will add up better then just depending on Native processors more.

If they're taking orders, that's music to my ears.
I will actually host a party here in LasVegas when it's released,
I can handle having some folks over for free comps and rooms.
Well the comps are open ended, but usually I need to give the courtesy of a 2 week reservation notice fro the rooms.

Greg, maybe you can come up here w/ GaryB & Co. as I plan on having a get together/upgrade feast. I am thinking of getting a small overhaul to hold me over for 6-7 months.

I really REALLY hope they have all the manufacturing, licensing, registration, keying, shipping, etc. logistics together soon, or they may be blamed for 'blowing more smoke'.

release would mean - provided there is no change in the strategy to ship xite and sfp5 at the same time - that sfp is ready to ship as well, wouldn't it?

I am taking the word of someone I trust as the announcement.
I am optimistic and happy, but I also understand why nobody's raising the flag just yet.
Soniccore has my support, and I look forward to this forum having years more of sharing ideas and Scope 5.0 is equally as important as the XITE-1.
Soniccore really needs to make an announcement here or at their website to get people exicted though. I have been excited ever since I touched the laptop at NAMM.
Just look at how excited everyone gets here when Ralf makes a post..........
I would love nothing more than to see guys with old cards having old bugs fixed and seeing new plugs being used w/ the upgrade to 5.0.
