Re: strange scope behaviour
do a check on your hard drive. maybe its getting old and corrupted.
if your computer is on the internet, make sure you have the latest updates for windows. today conflicker might start deleting files if you have caught it.

Re: strange scope behaviour
hmm,
what i tried now was:
-un-install scope and card drivers
-disable anti-virus app
then installed back without anti-virus running, loading - exit, cset.ini file is there,
enabled anti-virus program back, loading - exit, cset.ini is gone,
i have up to date anti-virus program , was running complete scan, no viruses found,
could this be something with anti-virus program and recent program updates ?
i never had anything similar, while anti-virus program enabled, today started,
now , if i don't have anti-virus running, cset.ini file stays.

Re: strange scope behaviour
well i dont know what anti virus you have, but most of them let you tell what kind of files to check. you can make it ignore INI files.
if its norton/symantec then just uninstall it and get a free one like avira. norton/symantec is just good for taking your money and making your computer slow and unreliable.

Re: strange scope behaviour
i have spyware doctor with antivirus,
i'll check if i can make ignore *.ini files or ask support

Re: strange scope behaviour
You don't want to ignore *.ini files, you want to exclude the Scope directory from scans. But at the same time if your antivirus is conflicting with something this simple, it's probably easier to use a different package for antivirus.
Also this is very odd behaviour for antivirus anyway, I wouldn't rule out other issues.

Re: strange scope behaviour
you do perfectly your job with light and free antivirus
i have paid for soft i do not use any more, like symantec, mcaffee.......
the best and lighter solution so far for me has been avast home free edition working with windows default firewall, or you can use another free light firewall.
avg is also nice, but avast has an easy way one click turn off and turn on.

Re: strange scope behaviour
well, i have also re-installed spyware doctor and what i figured out is, that i can run spyware doctor in the background , without cset.ini been
deleted, but soon i enable IntelliGuard Protection in program cset.ini disappear while exiting scope.
new program version for anti-virus was updated yesterday and few patches, so maybe there's something wrong,
cause before i didn't have prob. while enabling everything in program,
Valis :
i don't include scope dir in my scans, cause i have manualy selected where to scan

Re: strange scope behaviour
I wonder if you can try running some other program which modifies its ini file and saves on exit, see if it does the same thing.
Re: strange scope behaviour
i really don't have much other programs installed , mostly audio programs,
i have tried some other programs to run , but don't see any problems.
i have asked also support at PCTools, so i'm curious what they say.
thanks for replies,
matej

Re: strange scope behaviour
Scanning isn't the same as IntelliGuard Protection obviously, and most AV offers a way to disable that type of protection on a directory/file basis (ie, specifying the path to your scope dir.) In my ESET Nod32 v4's setup I have on my gaming partition I have to set it to ignore the Steam directory as some games give false positives in its exclusion list which applies to the heuristics as well as the on-demand/scheduled scanning.
Re: strange scope behaviour
looks like , yes, but like i mentioned, it must be somehow connected with program updates few days ago, cause i had everything enabled before without problems.
anyway, i have asked them in my support, still waiting what they'll say,
it doesn't bother be right now, i have disabled IntelliGuard, cause i don't have time and nerves to copy and paste cset.ini all the time
