irq vs pci slot

hi i just got a new mother board with 3 pci slots, however the 1st pci slot shares an irq with my pci-e graphics card, and im told that scope cards should be placed in pci slots in order for best performance.i am currently using 2 scope cards and i want to know what is more recommended- to use the pci1 slot which would share an irq with graphics card, or put the 2 scope cards in pci slots 2 and 3? thanks
