Orbitone Vorb...

Post by JoPo »

I just buy the vorb vocoder... The internal synth says- N°- of not load -name- .wav.

How can I find those wav files and how to load them on the vocoder ?

Thanks !

are you on a mac?
on pc it should work ok. the wave files are in the audio pool inside the synthesizer
if you cant find them i can pack em up so you can drag and drop.
but imo its a problem with your scope install.

I'm on a PC.

Yes for the files ! Thanks !
But if I need to load them each time I use vorb, it's gonna be boring ! Or maybe by saving in a preset, I don't know... I must try.

It was the same with the demo.

The files should have been put in a certain location by the "oxe" installer, in your Scope directory structure. If the files aren't being found, then there is a problem with your Scope installation's directory-paths.

What version of Scope/SFP are you running?
What is the installed path? (ie, C:\Scope\ etc)

Run Scope (SFP) and go into the "Livebrowser" menu, Set>Settings>Directories, do you see any paths there?

Answer the first 2 questions as well please and we can tell you if your Directories settings are correct, and if not what to set them to.

C:\SFP4.5

I made a image for the directories...

I check in the sample directories, there is no wav and no file looking like the vorb wav samples.

Thanks for help !

I made also a .wav file search in the SFP directories, there is no such file.

It won't help here, but if you use Mod2 or 3 set the "Modules" line to be: C:/SFP4.5/Modular2 Modules/

As for Vorb, it's quite probably that it's using samples in another format, either .pcm or .s. Try running the oxe again (with Scope running) and close, then restart Scope.

It's done : I run again the oxe file, the result is the same, no wavetable file.

I don't have it nor I know how the install should work, but are you sure that there isn't another folder somewhere in a C:\Scope or C:\SFP directory just created using the typical names of the older versions of the Scope software? I say so because I sort of remember an old version of Cubase that kept installing the vst plugins folder in C:\ Steinberg....etc. directory, While i was installing Cubase in F:\.....

Otherwise ask those files to someone who has them, make a directory where it should be and put them there.

Sorry if my help is not working, I only made an abstract hypothesis.

basicaly the waves should be contained within the device. not in an external directory
this is a bug with your scope system.
but you can also use these files and drag them onto vorb.
enjoy!

Thanks a lot !!!

Just a last thing... Where did you get those files ? Where are they, normaly, in your scope directory ?
I'd like to put them in the right place to check if my Vorb find them without helping it...

I'll try tonight, i'm at work, now...

I think he was saying that they are packed into the device itself. He's one of the people who helped develop it (although Orbitone as a business entity doesn't really "exist" anymore I don't think) and was kind enough to 'unpack' the samples for you. I would guess he's saying extract them to a folder somewhere and drag & drop them directly onto vorb.

Well I downloaded these to see their quality, and put them like everything else I have in the Samples Folder. I don't use all of the Pools or whatever as they have never worked for me.

As a last resort Brotha' Man JoPo put them in your samples folder that is in the same Scope Folder area where the Projects Folder is.
I just started demo'ing these in Prowave and I have found a couple I like.

I am not sure if the Orb has a load sample and clear sample feature, but if it does give it a shot... :-?

I tried the regular way that everyone says works, and some say not.
I say I like the way my synths load samples into the Sample Oscillator in Prowave, MultiSynth, LBH VIII, QWave, Solaris, Modular, etc.....

Your Scope installation is not working properly, but this has already been mentioned...
