what are your i/o options? do you have just the pulsar card, or do you have another sound card? is there an ad/da convertor in your setup? what connections does your external fx box have?

in general:
-with mixer: in pulsar connect aux send to your preferred audio output (analog/spdif/adat?), from phisical output to your fx in, from fx out to desired input for pulsar, then in your pulsar project from whatever source to return, or a channel if you prefer.
-direct: source to a audio dest. module, phisical output>fx in, fx out> phisical in, audio source module>wherever you want your processed audio to go into.

hope this makes sense,... so many possibilities, and such a little amount of information you give us

I am adding an A16 Ultra to my setup specifically as an effects send/return device.

I have 8 channels going out of my digital mixer into Pulsar (Aux & bus sends), where I can freely patch the incoming audio into any of my external or Creamware effects, and back out with zero latency. This is going to rule!!
