Successful Upgrade

Post by dawman »

I have decreased my 28U's down to 20U and added the E8600 w/ 4GB's of DDRII-800, I called GaryB at 8:00am to let him know I succeeded for the first time ever, as a DAW Builder.
I probably learned by watching GaryB on his many visits.
At this point I haven't seen, nor will see any gains w/ the RAM until I change over to 64bit XP and an XITE-1. As a matter of fact the only increase I see are the excessive instances of GigaPulse, and some higher counts of VST FX which I never use.
Chris Hein Horns 2.0 is a big resource hog using the new K2 impulses, but just like GigaPulse, I consider VST FX for reverb and delays to be cheezy and avoid them at all costs. DSP reverbs and hardware Reverbs are the only choice.

I got lucky and snagged another PCM91 for 700 USD as a second chance offer on ebay, so the only thing I need is the XITE-1 to see if 64bit will work or not. XP64 will be the choice as there are so many work arounds w/ VST apps to be 32bit and 64bit capable.

If I can simply just plug in the XITE-1 and go with 32bit XP, I will be impressed.
We shall see very soon...I hope.

The new Norco 1U QWERTY Drawer w/ GlidePad works flawlessley also. It is a USB 2.0 device instead of the old PS/2 w/ a USB adapter. Super smooth. All wiring can be viewed from a cutout hole and also changed if necessary.
