Correct Routing For Creamware ADAT Syncplate?

So, how would you route the Midi Output from Cubase5, to an ADAT XT20 optically connected to Pulsar2 ADAT B, and Creamware's ADAT Syncplate (using 9 pin ADAT connecting cable), within the Pulsar project window. I must be making a mistake somewhere because I cannot get my ADAT to sync up to Cubase5 via Pulsar2.
