Hi

I am a pulsar user and i'm in to tranceproducing. I Wonder if somebody could tell me which synth i must use to get those nice tranceleads like tiesto, I know that tranceproducers use a lot of chorus in there sounds to get those flowing trance sounds, but i want to know how to get those rich sounding saw-sounds, maby with distortion ??
Pleas help me !!!

Thanx

Well....you can produce some pretty convincing trance leads with the Orbitone 303 or, say, the Uknow. By and large you will want a clean-ish sound so go long on the reverb and the delay as opposed to the chorus. It's also a good idea to EQ out at least some of the botttom end and brighten the top end to a greater or lesser extent.

For trance-type arpeggios the free device from Zarg that was put on the devices page around Christmas (can't remember what it's called at the moment, though it's got the word 'Comb' in the title!) is excellent - again don't spare the delay.

I've never used an Access Virus - no doubt it's a great piece of kit - but if you don't think it's possible to make trance-type noises with the Pulsar then you're not getting the most out of your equipment!

definitely UKnow is great for those LEADS. although Blue Synth works great with arpeggio driven sequneces.
i don't think Virus is way better for producing trance LEADS than Pulsar..
just start tweakin.

I don't think a Nord or a MS2000 (certainly not the MS2000 !) is going to do any better than a well put together ModularV2 patch. Try at least two oscillators output to two filters, each with their own LFO, then route through a chorus, phaser and BPM-sync'd delay. Maybe add a pan modulator as well. Nothing is going to get much more sweeping and flowing than that ! This is based on a patch I've made which, with 6 voices, takes about 35% DSP power.

I adore the V2.

cheers,
