Obama Now Calls For Off-Shore Oil Drilling
Re: Obama Now Calls For Off-Shore Oil Drilling
I don't think the school system indoctrinates or really teaches anything beyond reading and basic math. Parents indoctrinate.
Re: Obama Now Calls For Off-Shore Oil Drilling
well then you fall into a category.
if school was reading and math, a 6th grade education would be(and once was) sufficient. higher learning as needed would be a simple matter with such a good foundation. however, in the United Nations document "Universal Declaration of Human Rights", it is stated outright that "Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace." i have added emphasis so that you can see that indoctrination is a very important function of education.
here is the source for the quote.
oh, by the way, here's a declaration of rights that does not require that the "puposes and prinicples" of the government(or governance in nwo speak) be upheld for the rights to exist. in other words, it is a document that acknowledges rights that supercede government interest.

braincell a lot of the things I see you say here are very counter-culture and as stated/self-styled as to be more 'enlightened' than the general 'masses'. Surely you remember the things you were taught in "social studios" (economics, history and politics) and by now have to be aware at the dichotomy between that curriculum and what is actually experienced now that you're "out in the world".
How I wish more parents really did take enough of an active role of rearing their child(ren) to indoctrinate them themselves, instead of relying on the nanny-state and its assembly-line approach to 'education' along with hollywood and basic cable during the more formative years.

controlled privileges disguised as 'rights'...
Rights with an agenda of compliance with some arbitrary doctrine.

yes, and a hint as to why home-schooling is becoming illegal in many States.valis wrote:How I wish more parents really did take enough of an active role of rearing their child(ren) to indoctrinate them themselves, instead of relying on the nanny-state and its assembly-line approach to 'education' along with hollywood and basic cable during the more formative years.

thanks for making sense...

My social studies classes weren't about the United States. They covered other countries and cultures; something most people are totally ignorant about.

Social studies studied, um...societies and cultures, while history class studied the US and other countries.braincell wrote:My social studies classes weren't about the United States. They covered other countries and cultures; something most people are totally ignorant about.
Then there's cultural anthropology and ontology - much more interesting.

I learned contact sports, and practiced getting under our desks during Nuclear Missile Attack drills. I also pledged allegiance and apologise to no one for that.
My son is in private school, a Catholic one actually. I chose it as Catholic schools are dedicated to education. Besides he is wise enough to read about Darwinism, the Bible, and a little Erich Von Daniken so he can draw his own conclusions.
If one wants to understand cultures, I suggest reading the Mahabharata, The Koran, Epic Of Gilgamesh, the Ramayana, and the Bible. They are good reading and can help one understand why so many barriers exist.
It's the parents that provide the proper education, not the school. Public schools are a giant day care center IMHO.

US citizens can learn from their own cultural roots and obviously other countries.
China has learned a lot from westerners
yup, they've learned how to profit from the body parts of dissidents and they've learned how to enslave country folk in factories in the city and they've learned how to build nuclear weapons and they've learned how to filter the internet....let's see, what else has a 5-8 thousand year old civilization learned?.....
oh well, it doesn't matter. the differences between the "west" and "east" have always been skin deep at best anyway. "west" and "east" are con-cepts that depend on one's point of veiw, and the human family all has common ancestors and history.
here you are stardust, spreading your personal bias again....

but yes, it's good to learn about other's ideas and practices and to embrace that which is good and helpful...
Re: Obama Now Calls For Off-Shore Oil Drilling
XITE-1, does your son learn more from Catholic school or from your gambling friends?
Gary, China sells body parts while we lock up nearly 2 million citizens for non-violent mostly drug related crimes where they are often raped and catch HIV. I call those people political prisoners and I call that kind of imprisonment torture.

Re: Obama Now Calls For Off-Shore Oil Drilling

yes, braincell our political prisoners are a disgusting blight on the face of the earth, and i don't find locking people up for using substances that the government imports any more acceptable than locking people up for their beliefs and then using their parts to extend the lives of the wealthy. the bit about HIV is a bit hysterical though.
actually, if you really want to get into HIV(which is NOT AIDS, AIDS being a SYNDROME, a collection of symptoms, and HIV being an actual virus), you have to examine the evidence that HIV is a race specific bio weapon test. in Africa, HIV seems to infect even those who are completely non sexually active(i know, most bigots figure that those darkies just have sex with every and anyone/thing

it's funny indeed braincell, how you manage to find outrage for all the appropriate, condoned horrors of the modern world and then you want a world government run by the same people perpetrating those horrors......

I wish we had spent the money that we used in the Iraq war to research new energy forms!

Is it so hard to accept that there is more than your own truth ?
As you pretend to know, you can learn.
And brain is not only talking airy theories and individualism here, but pinpointing some issues that are relevant allover the planet, also in US.
sarcasm is both funny and a bad habit....
MY truth is as important as YOUR truth, not in the least bit important. THE truth is the thing to search out. finding one's own truth is just an easy cop out. just because you or i have a hard time determining or comprehending THE truth, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. for example, drug laws and imprisonment from them are inhumane, especially when the "authority" is the one creating the drug problem. likewise, selling dissident body parts is inexcusable regardless of whatever other evil is in the world. this is not MY truth. it's just fact. argue it if you will, the fact will remain. i don't care about MY truth or YOUR truth. that is neither negative nor an offense against anyone.(just fyi)

Not much research needed. It's all already there - just largely suppressed by the energy monopolies.braincell wrote:I wish we had spent the money that we used in the Iraq war to research new energy forms!
The guy I know in Arizona that has perfected cheap self-produceable Hyrdrogen fuel out of seawater has had his life threatened already.
Shoulda spent the Iraq war budget (expanded by another $680Bil TODAY by the way) on infrastructure, education, the arts, etc. etc.
