I'M HEARING DAUGHTER BOARD PURCHASES MUST BE SENT BACK TO CW
I'm in the process of upgrading my SCOPE SRB with an I/O Daughterboard and an ADAT Sync Plate. The word from CW America, and two CW reps is that I may have to send my board back to Germany to get it fitted!
I'm waiting to hear back from CW Germany.
I guess their reasoning has to do something with the SRB XTC systems out or coming out. They have no I/O so I guess dXL will be happy.
That's an aweful lot of studio downtime and I don't know if I can afford that kind of business loss.
Have you heard any of this out there and what do you think about this? I'm not exactly happy about this prospect although the jury is still out.

Isn't this just because the SRB is not directly designed for this upgrade. The IO daugther board on my pulsar does not look like a detachable kind of thing (although I have not studied it in depth 'cos its in my computer).

My experience is this,
Last month I priced out the job to do it. I was going to buy the product and instal it myself. When I asked around about the instalation process I was told it was basic. This simple process involved screing the daughter board on after removing the blank plate and then plugging it into the SRB board.
I'm concerned about several things:
1. If I have to send my card in what will I do with my clients wanting to coming into my business now? I need this card for my studio.
2. Why do I have to send a card to Germany for four screws and a ribbon cable?
3. The lost time and the additional shipping expenses might cause a bit of concern. It might be cheaper for me to buy a different card such as a Luna2 w/ ADAT just to get my system to do what I want.
4. Most imporantly why the change?
Again the jury is still out. CW America, said they'd get back to me today. I'm not going to bash them or fire off some flames since I really love my CW system. However, I'm hoping that customer support will come through on behalf of the customer. I'm hoping that someone somewhere will have the plates and I can live happily ever after. Stay tuned.

Oooh - you know you want to. I would get to this point and start thinking "mmm and three extra DSP's as well..". From there on in its a slippery slope.
Good luck

The story unfurels...
*I don't have to send my card to Germany. They'll send one to CW America (thanks Paul)
I'll exchange cards w/ CW America which will severly cut down on my Studio Down time.
* I don't have to worry about buying one of those "other" systems like RME, MOTU, etc. I get to keep my CW and still be a happy studio owner.
* CW is out of their daughterboards, standard/ADAT or otherwise. This means that anybody else out there looking to upgrade their SRB with a daughter board will have to send their card into CW America (or what ever country their in) to make this happen.
*I'll finally be able to integrate my ADATs and solve my business and operational problem.

Further Information for Planet Z people....
1. If you have a Version 2.0 or newer of your card you'll have to send it to Germany.
2. I'm using a SCOPE SRB 1.0 and CW will send the daughter board to CW North America and that's why the difference.
3. I've found the service to be helpful but slow now going on two weeks with this particular issue and my studio is out of commission.

The daughter boards can be "Classic", "Plus", "24ADAT" or "Zlink." Check creamware's site for more info here:

I got my two daughter boards:
* 24 channels of ADAT I/O
* Sync Plate for Pulsar
Thus begins the real quest and probably an innumerable amount of other posts on the great planetz. I can see myself in sync hell very shortly with all this daughterboard extra stuff that was never a problem before because I didn't have it in my system. God only knows....
Well, this week end is it folks. I'll be installing this and seeing if really I can sync two ADAT's, an O1V or two, 40 channels of ADAT lightpipe coming from my huge CW system and sync cables galore running everywhere but probably the right place.
What do you all think----should the BRC be the master or the MTP A/V? That's the debate ragin in my mind now....

Wwell well, looks like there are more people wandering why their card must be sent back just for some screws.
I had exactly the same problem: A Scope SRB, on which I wanted to place a classic IO. The reason I had to send it back to Germany was because there are 3 versions of the Scope around, on which 1 chip is different in height. The plate must be placed over this chip (on my card it's a quicklogic chip), but on some versions of the Scope you can damage the chip, if you push the plate on it too hard. (Why did CW sell these versions anyway..?)
I didn't get my Scope back yet, but I assume that if it doesn't fit, they will exchange it for one that does fit.
I don't know about the XTC, but it might be thte same problem.
