I try it here again.What do the fellow scopers use?

And i mean Speakers not lcd panels

shroomz, i will oblige:

PMC TB1s. If i needed new speakers i would get TB2s. They are the best speakers ever.

'Probably'?! That's fighting talk.

Why PMCs? Well a dubbing theatre in a post production facility i used to work at had PMC MB1s (Mega Bastard) powered by 4U Bryston amps. They use TB1s (Tiny Bastards) for the rear surround, but in a home studio setting they're plenty big enough. i power them by a 1U Bryston. i like the way the speakers extend the bass end of a near field size monitor with the 'transflex' technology, yet they do not make the bass unnaturally huge (i know some like this but i prefer a bit less bass these days). They are also very non-fatiguing on the ears (unlike many monitors), although this has the disadvantage that you can listen quite loudly without realising it, go out of the room for while, come back in and go "Wow that's loud".

The blue ones? If yes.. a mate has em and i think for that money they kick ass!
Another mate of me has the passive red ones and i like em aswell!! His mixes turn out really great.He is more into releasiing minimal techno than me so ..he must getting it right.

I was close to getting the tannoy or the hs 80 from yamaha..but decided to ..well go the last strain and make me broke till next year with the p22a.I see that as a purchase that will last atleast 10 years.. thats what i keep telling myself

ADAM S2A.

I got them because I compared them in the Audio Pro shop with other stuff and I had the better impression. The room is quite small, they are the right size. I also have some NS10 but I never use them.

Hey the s2a are awsome.My mates have a commercial studio with s3a which made me get the p22.We also use the ns10 in our main studio with a fender bassman 2x15................for shaking.I tried the s2a aswell but i found em overkill for my needs the price diff was just to huge to justify for me.
Did you compare em to the focal solo or twin 6? I tested these aswell and after hearing about focal sooo much ..they are really hyped atm i couldnt get used to em.They sound way to hifi for me.

I remember as much hyped the Genelecs....of all the bunch the S2A seemed the most equilibrated but very pleasant to the ear, not fatiguing at all. Didn't see any focal solo then.

I'm still using Mackie HR824's. They're a bit tubby due to the passive radiator but I still prefer them to the ported designs that exist below the $1000 mark in the US market. When I bought them in 2002 they were the only option at that pricepoint, and the monitors below them were considerably worse. The Genelecs that are comparable to them were a bit better sounding but due importing costs they were closer to the $1600 mark (I think I spent $1100 on these including tax).

When I upgrade I'm considering Dynaudio BM15a's, the new Barefoot 3 way monitors, Adam P22a's or possibly PMC's. I'd still like a decent amount of low end which is why the first two are getting my preference, and PMC & Adam round out the 'midrange clarity' options.

Im using Genelec 8040, but Im also considering the Barefoot MM-27.

PMC TB1's here too. I don't have the crazy dollah required for Bryston amps, I make do with a Hafler P3000, which is a really great amp for the money.

As for why - clarity and detail while sounding natural and transparent. The imaging and accuracy also seems really good to my ears. Interesting note: PMC speakers are also well-regarded by audiophiles who value transparency.
