I believe most of us feel that the proposed 2x ADAT I/O on Scope Xite is not enough for a box that powerful. So how many want SonicCore to include Z-Link as well? Cast your vote here!

I don't need Z-link - I simply dont have any units that support Z-link. I have alot of ADDA converters (RME ADI-8 QS and Apogee AD16X + DA16X) and none of those supports the Z-link interface - nothing do, excepts SC AD/DA converter.
I want S/MUX4 support and AES3 singlewire 192KHz (8 or 16 stereo channels) or MADI interface.
It depends on the target customer - what kind of a customer would buy the XITE system (or which kind of customer does SC wants), but one thing is sure - I (probably noone) would exchange their high-end AD/DA setup for a converter from SC with Z-link and every single AD/DA converter supports the AES interface.
The best solution would be an I/O daughterboard, much like the current Scope boards, so SC would be able to change the I/O interfaces for different customers, like :
XITE AES16 (including 2 I/O ADAT S/MUX4)
XITE Z-link (including 2 I/O ADAT S/MUX4)
XITE MADI (including 2 I/O ADAT S/MUX4)
Kind regards
Martin

Yeah, I think a breakout box with extra ADAT I/O, Z-Link, and MADI connected to Scope through XTDM is the best way to go.stardust wrote:If not Zlink in the case of Xite at least a extension (maybe via XTDM) to allow the connection of A16 and Luna Box.

I think 2 Z-link connectors right on the Xite would be the best solution.
Scope cards have it so I don't think it would be hard for S\C to implement Z-link connections right on the box.
So if S\C does not implement Z-link, then here is a scenario,,,
Newbie goes to S\C site or wherever to buy a Xite and is interested in one of the ADDA converters, but is told that you cannot connect xite to them via Z-link only adat??
and that only the older cards have z-link so when buying a brand new A16 Ultra or XLR version you would have to own an older card with Z-link
or connect it via 24/ 48000 Adat??
I don't know guys that doesn't make sense to me.
Bottom line Z-link is a must for X-ite

It seems such an obvious thing to have Z-Link on the Xite-1, that it makes me wonder if there is a technical issue why they can't, possibley the chips used are not available/compatible with the new design - particuarly as it's proprietary, but 'based' on FireWire, so it's a bit of a hack anyway...
Just wondering - no actual facts involved here
