Bit Transparency

Post by Music Manic »

Is Scope a stated Bit Transparent card through and through even though some channels aren't phase coherent in the SFP mixer?

It would be nice to do some tests on this to see what "changes" the sound and how sequencers like Cubase and some plugins interfere with quality.

RME mixers ares said to be bit transparent.

"transparency" is an abused term, as are all the audio descriptions..."bit transparent" doesn't mean anything in particular to me...Scope mixers DO sound very good, transparent or not they have a great sound, however i'd call the scope mixers "transparent", in that they don't cause unpleasant coloration of the sound. hardware mixers are not 100% phase accurate between all channels, that's not what makes a good sounding mix(although it's certainly a factor if the channels are grossly out of phase!)...
