Oddity or Prodyssey?

Post by sonicstrav »

I tried out the demo for oddity - I haven't heard it for ages! - It sounded pretty good to me but its much cheaper than the scope plug-in - how do they compare?

Well before i say anything, let me just say that Prodyssey sounds good. However...

The problem with Prodyssey is that it is polyphonic. Great you say. Except that this sadly means the S&H triggering behaves differently and, more importantly, the Duophonic mode is lost.

If you want authenticity in the ARP's expression then Duophony is a must, therefore Oddity is the one to go for. If you're not bothered about it then get Prodyssey.

Try the demo of Oddity and try the duophonic patches to ascertain whether you care for that sound or not. To me it's what gave the ARP its sound. Would you be pleased with a two osc Minimax?

i have to say though to make it Oddity comparable in sound to the Scope synths i tend to put it through space f's FAT inserts to, well, make it fatter.
