Hi.

My first time on planet z. Have read so much about CW... Pulsar.. Luna.. and all the synths/efx it has.

btw.. how's the mixer?

What I'd like to know is: Can the MOTU 24i or 828 Firewire A/D boxes be integrated with the Pulsar/Luna environment?

What latency issues would I have to contend with? I'd like to route my external synths into a CW Mixer individually and then process some of them in the mixer, use a few of the CW synths as well as a CW sampler.
it would be nice if I could route some of the internal stuff back out for external processing as well and then bring it back into the final mix. *IF* that is possible without too much latency...

Is there an advantage to the Firewire MOTU 828 box as opposed to the PCI-based MOTU 24i? all other things being equal, which i know they're not - I know it's great to have 24 INs but I think I could get by on 8. I am concerned that there could be a competition between the CW equipment and the 24i for the PCI bus..

I am sorry if this is not the deepest question on this forum. I have looked around planetZ a LOT, believe me, and have not found the answers that I need..

Thanks for reading and possibly even passin' some knowledge my way.

You can do everything you ask, except using the MOTU interfaces... They are latency-infected like most other soundcards.
Instead go for a PulsarII with the Z-Link I/O board and a A16-Ultra.

Thanks for your replies.

If I get the PulsarII card will I be able to route the CW synths/efx into a VST environment - say Logic - for further audio processing and then back to the CW mixer?

Second, would I be able to do all my MIDI sequencing in Logic but keep the audio in the CW environment.

The reason i ask these questions is that I am looking for flexibility.

Thanks,
Benjamin

why use vst for that?(vst suffers from latency) logic has audio instruments................

'if VST environment' means audio sequencer, then i would say 'yes'. connect the output of CW devices to asio destination module and from your sequencer busses to asio source module in pulsar. you can do this in numerous ways: mixer in pulsar, fx in the routing, direct,...

of course you can send midi data from your seq into pulsar and connect whatever you want to what output you need. i don't know if you have ever seen pulsar at work in real life, but if you take a look at the brochure or whatever, you see these blue (audio) and red (midi) lines connecting the devices... well, you have to draw these yourselves! hard to do? no way! flexible? absolutely!

yeah, right. i'm on mac, so no VST pulsar (XTC it is called) for me, but as garyb said, you don't want to do that (at the moment, maybe later?).
