I think your post will be moved as its not an announcement and moderated due to a certain word in your post.

But to your request,

The drivers may be free but only the platform v5 will cost you money. I just cant see anywhere in the website that say that the drives will cost you money.

If the drivers do only work for v5 then you are doomed because you will have to buy the platform and will probably be protected by serial registration, so only a specified card can run it.

If the drivers do cost money but work with any platform, what you may get is that people here wont give you the drivers for free when they had to pay for them in order to only benefit you.

If the drivers do cost it could be because SonicCore Platform 5 is not Creamware SCOPE 5 but a different product. Updates for SCOPE are no more. New company with new product.. If their generous to treat their predecessors customer base that's fine, if they don't they owe nothing imo.. Atleast it can be seen this way tho it may not be.. SonicCore did word it as update but the name has changed, the company has changed, and when 5.0 is released the product will have changed..

you dont have to buy this driver unless you choose to go vssta.

and again, even though xp -> vista compability demands a very small amount of work (its not going 64bit as far as i know) SC willl charge you a ridicoulus amount of cash for the upgrade.

you can either live with it or stick to xp

i have a feeling we might see new devices, but if not, i recommend you to save your money.-

I will be the guinnea pig as GS4 will have XP32/64, and Vista 32/64.

Just for shits and grins I will see what all the hype is about.

Many guys I have corresponded with who have made the jump are claiming huge benefits.

GaryB set up my newest DAW w/ the 3GB PAE Switch for XP32. I am using 3.2GB's of RAM out of a total of 4GB's of DDRII-800 CL4 RAM.

It is as fast as greased lightning and can load and play everything I throw at it.

I also can load my external hardware reverbs along with tons of time based effects in Scope w/ the new P35 chipset.

So M$ can suck my ass.

I am also hearing that Vista is a major pain, so XP64 looks to be a better solution if one HAS to go to 64bit.

Tascam will be releasing a bridge that allows 32 bit apps a way to run under 64bit also.

Now those boys sound like they did their homework.

There's another angle here. As some of us might remember, CreamWare NEVER finished their XP drivers! Their WDM-KS drivers were ridiculously buggy and were left unfixed by the time they went bankrupt in 2003. For us Sonar users, we got saved by Cakewalk implementing ASIO in their product. But WDM can still be useful because it frees up ASIO for another application...so if SonicCore is actually working on drivers, perhaps they're trying to fix the XP drivers as well. If that's the case, the whole thing is worth the money.

Not to mention, for those of us who haven't yet bought all the plugs, we still get the 4.5 package. :)

Scope 5

Post by jigger »

Maybe i should`nt spread this here, but nobody made a secret out of it ... actually i read a lot here, but don`t write too much ... so ... bla bla

I was told by soniccore on the phone that scope 5 is much more than a driver.
"We have totally rewritten Scope"!
There will also be new devices, they are thinking about how to bundle them...

AND: There is a new Asio-Driver on the way...

I was really glad to hear all this, since i use the stuff a lot and intend to
do that for some more years :-)
