I'm just wondering if there is such a thing as an A8. Cause I've seen the A16 and it looks great but I really only need 8 I/O. I'm just trying to save money that's all. But it would have to have at least the same specs. The inputs would have to be balanced. I'm taking about a professional 8 I/O to use with a Pulsar 2.

Is there anything out there? If so a few links would be nice... Also can a Pulsar 2 soundcard use other break out boxes other than creamware? I assume not but I thought I ask anyway.

Thanks

There was an A8 a couple of years ago but not now.It has since been surpassed by newer boxes.
The Pulsar II has ADAT I/O so you can use pretty much every ext. breakout box there is since most of them has ADAT I/O.

What pricerange were you thinking about?
How "pro" ?

I can think of at least 10 different boxes right away.

I think it's called "LunaBox" now, 8x8 i/os, halfrack, 24bit, zlink-only connectors.

ok I found what is called "Luna 2496 I/O Box" However in the specs from CW I noticed that it has 8 I/O RCA plugs. What The? RCA? I thought that RCA plugs were not for PRO Audio. Where CW trying to cut down on costs. RCA plugs to me seem pretty basic,, what happened to Balanced Jack (1/4) plugs.

Ok about using ADAT to connect other breakout boxes. If I'm correct ADAT can only go up to 48kHz Is that Right? I was hoping to keep everything in 24/96. The main reason is I want to be able to record onto DVD in about 1 year. So I think that I need to keep everything in 24/96. Having said that what are options in a breakout box for a Pulsar 2?
Please help if you can. Or maybe I'll have to get an A16. However at this stage I was hoping to get something a little cheaper.

You had me going for a second. I just checked the CW site and the A16 is 24bit 96kHz.

Actually I'm pretty sure the old A16/A8 were 18 bits, and don't let the specs fool you, they still sound better than cheaper 24bit products. Luna box is RCA, because Creamware sees Luna as a starter product. If you want cheap 8x8, it probably isn't going to be balanced or have wordclock, take a look at the Alesis AI3.
