nice day everyone...

before I go to sleep one question:

I am running a Laptop with a RME DSP Hammerfall 8I/O Soundcard; the Laptop I use to process VST-Synths. From the RME soundcard OUT1+2 I route an audio-cable into IN7+8 of the Luna BreakoutBox (I use Pulsar I, Luna II and LunaBreakoutBox).

Whereas all my other instruments which go to the INs 1-6 work fine, without producing any of this annoying quite, but disturbing noises (a quite steady rhythm) the Laptop (btw. Win XP) in IN 7+8 produces this noise.

When I move the mouse, or write something, or click on an icon then the noise gets louder.

This is strange. Do you have a hint for me ?

Above you can see my setup. Additonially I want to mention the OS, which is WinXP on the Laptop and Win98SE on the PC.

What kind of cable?
What kind of connector is the RME? (Not familiar with it and don't feel like looking for the specs on it).

I've seen this more often with unshielded consumer cables (like RCA ones), also could be related to two computers both with different paths to ground - try powering them both from the same power outlet.

good ideas humanbus... the bus that takes me to knowledge, yeah ;;--)). no serious, creamware can be happy that you guys are here for their costumers, and you helped me too; sh.. that I didn´t know earlier about this forum, really.. I would have saved some time.. well, sorry for the excurs..

the problem is that when I listen through the RME Hammerfall (Laptop) over my hifi (without turning on the pc) it is the same; when I put pc and laptop at the same power-supply, the same; but: one guy of this forum here wrote me a private message and gave me the following adress, where you can buy a little hardware-device which eliminates the noise (non-technically-spoken):

http://www.m3c-berlin.de/html/26000.html

the device is named PALMER PLI-03 (Palmer Line Isolation Box) - you can order via internet (what I did) or per phone 0049-821-257-280.

When I tried it out I will inform you if it works.

I forgot to tell you that if I disconnect the Laptop from the power-supply (only accu then) the noise is gone completely, but I think this has to do with this earthing-thing, too

bye
