8-I/O Box - Zlink Problem

Post by itt13 »

Hello all,

With some "little" problems I finalized installing Scope on my PC
all working very good.
But when I restart the PC, SCope tell me , that

"Hardware Version 16 detected. This hardware requires a software update. Please consult the installation guide"

what can I do?

best regards

Hi Roman,
That message usually pops up when SFP has installed but the hardware can't be found for some reason. The first thing you need to check is that in "Device Manager" - located in the "Hardware" tab in "System" in Windows Control Panel - that whichever card you have installed is recognised there. If it appears as an 'Unknown Device' or doesn't appear at all, that's obviously the problem. I get this message happening from time to time with my cards (even when they've been installed in a computer for a long time). I find it's almost always cured by shutting the computer down, unplugging the power from the back, holding the power button (of the computer) on for a few seconds, and then plugging it back together and rebooting. Doing this will purge any remaining power from the motherboard which can sometimes hold unwanted things in the RAM. This is a 'REAL' cold boot. If it doesn't work again after doing that and at most a couple more reboots, then try re-seating the card in the PCI slot (with the power off!! I recently fried a Dual Xeon motherboard being stupid with that....heart-breaking) and then if that doesn't work, try moving it to another PCI slot if one is available. If it doesn't work after that then you've got bigger problems which may require reinstallations of Windows or SFP. Let's hope it not a faulty card though.
Cheers,
AudioDan
