Brainrox Digital

Post by dawman »

Anyone recording with this recently?

I am interested in hearing a demo made by someone here who actually recorded with the microphone settings as described.

Can a synth's mono, or stereo outs be applied the same way?

Will the hardware unit take regular stereo signals, and process these live?

17.850,00 EUR?? Did I understand this correctly. 25 large??

Maybe the software could be inserted in the Master Out slots to take the stereo signal and process it.

Then again, I really like the way DAS's DynaPara EQ makes my samples sound so awesome.

THe bxDigital works best (to my ears) in the main mix output.

Exactly. That's what it's for primarily. Used as a master insert. It splits the input into two components - mid & side. So's you can process them separately. Reduce the mid (mono) component a gnat's and the track gets wider, etc. EQ can be applied to either component along with using the insert slots so you can, for example beef up the bass & kick with selective eq, comp or whatever in the mid section if required. Cool for fixing stuff that's been mixed before.

There are two extra modes available "M/S Recording" mode and another which allows the plug to be used as a normal stereo EQ. I am not sure whether I will update. I have a TC box which does M/S recording and I got ISON which is good pretty good on the master insert. I never used M/S recording on vox. Never seen the need.

Actually, come to think of it the Brainrox might be good on synths. DAS thing is cool. Hmmm........

DAS DynaPara has turned my sample libraries upside down, so I can't see the Brainrox actually sounding any better for already recorded material.

I mainly want to start recording some compositions where I will be using different players on acoustic instruments, as well as vocals. I figure I'll just record it the way it was meant to be used, and am hoping for some new ways of mastering. VDAT should sound very nice, as I heard a live recording done on a Jim Gamble console a few years back that floored me. I never heard a live recording that sounded so good. Only 26 channels were used, mostly mic'd drums, horns, and vocals. But the mastering the next day was so easy and fun in Scope.

ISON looks awesome. I first looked at that a few years back, but it was beyond my comprehension then. I just had a Scope GigaDAW built for me, and was struggling with comprehending a mouse !
