Change from Logic to Cubase SX

Post by TimingLess »

Hello!!

I wonder if any of you changed to SX from Logic PC.
Now I got a new machine and the LOGIC 5.51 does not work with 2 GB ram smoothly. I thought about buying Cubase SX 4.

Did it take very long to get aware of what cubase does and how it works??

Thanks for your input.

all the sequencers are pretty much the same.

i also started with logic and then moved to sx. i don't have any problem with logic 5.51 and 2gb of ram, however. currently i have logic, sx, samplitude and sonar on my machine......

personally, i like sx. others have other preferences. there are obvious feature differences and the shortcuts and functions are slightly different and in slightly different menus, but it's like the difference between M$ word and word perfect. if you know one, you can figure out the other, they work according to the same principles.

I have SL 3.1 and am really satisfied.
Before you buy Cubase 4, read the Cubase-forum. There seem to be many hardware-incompatibilities. All C4 users are waiting for V 4.1.
At www.cubase.de there is a german forum, too.

Thanks!!

I answered yesterday - but I don't see it.???

Gary:
If I load lots of samples into RAM I get the message "Memory is getting short".
A thread on "Sonikmatter" said that logic deals not with more then 1 GB RAM.

Mr. Voigt:
I had the chance to work on the machine of a friend last night and I managed to record MIDI. AUDIO was easy to Record but hard to find out how to listen to it.
Then the click was not in time with the TEMPO.

You know wether there is a kind of sample song made for pulsar with the basic VSTi and Effects?

Cheers

yes, i see your problem.
well, sx3 is very good here. i haven't needed to upgrade to 4 and i'm hearing bad things about the current version. i like logic for the way it handles midi(quantization and looping), these things are better in logic. audio is superior in cubase.i guess it depends on what you like. have you demo'd reaper?

the demo is fully functional and free. the app is cheap and seems to be well done. i don't know if it'll be helpful to you or not, but you can try it:

Listening to recorded audio files shouldn't be the problem for a Scope user. Connect the ASIO source (Cubase recognises the number of channels) with the Scope mixer and this with your Abhöre :D - voilà.
But the MIDI timing is a well-known problem - I hope I solved it on my DAW.
