Scope and PC Cillin conflict

Post by mausmuso »

Hi Guys,
In the last few days I have begun experiencing a PC Cillin message asking me to 'reboot to remove some spyware' everytime I insert an STS device into a project.
This is a new issue as I have used STS samplers for years with no real problems.
When I look into Trend there is two files quarantined, although I cannot tell you what they are as this part is greyed out.
Has anyone else had anything similar??
Maybe there is some virus files that are named similar to STS run files or something??
BTW if I blow the quarantined files away everthing still works.
one step forward.....

antivirus programs and audio apps usually don't belong on at the same time. in this case, the sts is trying to take control of system resources in a way that sets off the alarm. most time, you can get away with having the antivirus running, but it really should be off for music. if you must stay connected to the internet and have antivirus running, you might try antivir or avg and see if they give you issues as well. i know people who have run both and not had complaints...

Hey Mausmuso,
Yes your DAW should be off the net. However, I like you, used to
have it hooked up because it was the only computer I had. Yes
Trend PC Cillin does funky stuff even when you turn it off....
For some reason it never really get's stopped. I did switch to
AVG Free and when I turned it off, it was off. Didn't experience any
of the hassle I did with PC Cillin. So...I never renewed my subscription.
Try AVG, you'll like it....even the free version.

Take care
