PCI replaced ISA. EISA was a faster ISA etc. Have their been any new developments on the BUS ? Is there a super / enhanced PCI in the pipeline ?

at the IDF intel has a vision about "lecta", which contains "3gio" - 3rd generation i/o (serial bus) with up to 2.5 gbit (theoretically) for each connected device.. and it shall end in a standardised interface for like every extension module (modem, ethernetcontroller etc)
sounds like it wont be commonly available within the next 5 years
when i think about pci-soundcards or usb, which took years to become standards.. oh well
