Hi,
Can two old home cards, each with a single Z-link port, share one A16 Ultra? It looks like they can, but I'd like to be sure. Are there any gotchas?
Cheers.

although I didn't try that I'm conviced they can, especially when plugged into the same machine. I could even imagine that it is possible to use it as a kind of split luna box and use 8 channels from one machine independently from the other 8 channels. I had option 1 in mind before, but I didn't try yet. when my unit is back from service I surely check that, since I can imagine situations where I could find that useful, too.

since I looked up something else in the manual I found a passage that clears things up:
the unit will mute if not both z-link sources are phase coherent (something that won't occur if the cards sharing the A16U are connected via stdm and thus running in the same machine.)
my conclusion is: everything else may or may not work.
