A good Deesser???

Post by YiannisK »

I am in need of a deesser, the one that comes with scope is not doing it for me.

I think I've seen a few freebe deessers someware here in the devices, are they any good?

Basicaly , when I use Vinco to compress a female voice in a track I'm working on, the S's are coming out a little too much.

I have orbitone compresser with a desser patch, it' ok.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

hi,

just use an eq to isolate the freq that is boring you and output it to the sidechain input of a compressor , you will get the deesser you want

Thanks for your info and you know what, this works very well!
You learn something every day.

Question though!
If I use, for a vocal track,
Vinco with a eq connected to the side chain for deesser,
does this mean that Vinco is also compressing the vocal?
or do I use another compresser for this?
It does sound like there is compression but I would think that the Vinco + eq on side chain would act ONLY as a deesser?
I little more info on this would be great.
