ProWave W/ QWave = Supreme Obesity

Post by dawman »

JB's synths as we all know require a little more DSP's than other synths, but the audio rewards are incredible.

I have decided to use my unison patches that are set to 2 voice unison, using 12 voices of poly. When I make a custom patch using ProWave as the spearhead of the attack, and have QWave evovling underneath, I almost have to sit down when I play due to the total elation from it's incredible textures.

Since the need to have matching polyphony is not important, I can use a 4 instrument performance w/ 4 voice poly in QWave, and just float in ecstacy. I used my Oberheims in a similar way back in the day, but never had this much shit happening. Solaris and ProWave were attempting this but Qwave is the synth 4 soundscapes !!

I am so happy that SonicCore had the foresight to collaborate with John Bowen.

If You Got The DSP's, That's My Tip.

wasn`t JB not always a bit part of Creamware? :)

He is mentioned in the SFP device developer information...
I think he did help to develop the pro-12, pro-one and CW other stuff already in the old days...

right?

You are right, the QWave is a fantastic synth for soundscapes. My guess is that the Solaris can do much of the same stuff, but the QWave seems more up to the task in it's layout.

What sorts of sounds can you get in Qwave that you can't get in Solaris?

well, half an hour ago I wanted to type an answer, but thought it might be better to have a peek at surface before writing nonsense...
I almost couldn't stop mangling the sound, just 2 presets and a handful of notes... it evolved and evolved and evolved...

it's in no way restricted to soundscapes, but in that domain it really eats everything for breakfast - 'fortunately' my humble 12 DSP only allow a limited number of voices/parts - it's better for my sanity... :D
you could almost say it 'sounds' identical to the Solaris Wavetable oscillators, but you'd never be able to control the tone with Solaris like you can with QWave - that makes it a completely different instrument...
eh - it's 4 of them, as it's 4 part multitimbral.
drive 3 from a sequencer, play one on your keyboard (or whatever you prefer) - I haven't had the time yet, but it can do great electro drums, too :o

cheers, Tom

I just washed a load of clothes with a preset using 4 part, 4 voice poly.

I just love using ProWave or Solaris for the initial attack followed by QWave branching out in multple directions.

Decimator makes the most awesome presets on the ProWave also. Just decipher one @ a time as a reverse engineering process.

O.K...........Just used ProWave as the initial attack sound using CEM Osc's, and WAV Oscillators w/ my Kyma waveforms, which by the time QWave kicked in, my knees started shaking like it was my first head job.

I can just imagine becoming profficient on this. I hope JB follows Solaris hardware with some RD II series modules, or QWave hardware. There is no way anyone could buy another synth after hearing these in hardware form.

I don't know about everyones opinion, but Solaris hardware is a milestone for synthesis. I believe that many professionals are gonna buy this w/o a demo. As John's work here, no longer requires demos. To me, the price is inconsequential. It will be a collectors item years from now like my Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle rookie cards are. Guys from Japan would kill their mother 4 these. My God we have really corrupted them haven't we? I almost used those cards on my spoked wheels using clothespins as a kid. I liked the taste and size of the bubbles I could blow back then w/ the gum, and threw so many cards away, that I could have retired if I knew what I know now.

Can You Guys Tell That I've Been jamming, and drinking Jaegermeister w/ my schatzie all day and night? I have had my dog walked all week now that WJ's home for my BDay. The surgery left me a sexless man for nine weeks. She could raise the dead when properly unclothed, aaarrrffff !!
