Power Sampler
a single a16u has 16 analog ins and 16 analog outs. if you want to double analog ports, double the number of a16u units.fraz wrote: If I get an A16u and connect it to Power Sampler...I get an extra 16 I / O?...I think so....then I have 32 I / O...good!!!
the adat ports and the zlink ports of the a16u carry the same signal, coming from or going to the analog ports.
using two units with your ps means connecting one unit with 2 zlink cables to the zlink ports of the ps (one onboard, one on the expansion), and the other unit to the adat ports of the expansion.
only that way you have 32 unique, independent I/O. plus the analog stereo on the board itself, of course

if it's still not clear, I maybe should draw a picture?

Z-Link Plate
Hi,
I'm up to speed on the I/O options for the Power Sampler card, now I've just been reading through my Creamware manual and have seen the Z-Link plate which looks interesting.
This has two Z-Link connections and a normal ADAT connection. So am I right to assume that the Z- Link A and B can connect two A16u?
Is this Z-LInk card something that can connect to my Pulsar 2 Classic. I'm sure I'll learn alot more about my SFP...

Re: Z-Link Plate
not the way you want, as I assume. one single z-link port can carry 8 channels in and out, as it does with the luna i/o expansion box. if you want to connect an a16u to your system, you need 2 z-link cables for getting all 16 channels into your cw cards. thus, you can connect a single a16u to a single z-link i/o plate.fraz wrote:This has two Z-Link connections and a normal ADAT connection. of course, you could connect 2 a16u to a single z-link plate, but still you would have 16 channels (8 from one and 8 from the other unit, which is obviously not what you desire).
you can also connect one single a16u to a luna equipped with the adat expansion (since you have 2 z-link ports, then).
no. you have to remove the classic i/o plate to mount the z-link plate (as you would have to with the plus and adat i/o board). Is this Z-LInk card something that can connect to my Pulsar 2 Classic. I'm sure I'll learn alot more about my SFP...

OK Kylie,
I have become a little confused on the Power Sampler Z-Link connection. On the Power Sampler if I connected one A16u into the Z-Link connector does this automatically give me 16 in and out immediately without any further complication???
So one A16u connected into the one Z-Link connector on Power Sampler = 16 in and out with no further complication? - Is this correct?. Sorry, but just a tad confused exactly how it will work...

I've thought this through and feel happier again. I didn't realise that one Z-Link cable would only transfer 8 channels of audio.
I realise now that I need the expansion plate with the one z-link connector and the two lots of ADAT and have two A16u and connect one z-link cable into the z-link connection on the power sampler which sets me up for 8 channels z-link.
After this I need to connect another z-link cable from the A16u into the z-link connector on the expansion plate, this sets me up for another 8 channels so now we're up tp 16. This is where I misunderstood...so sorry for taking so long to understand...
(so presumeably there are two connections for z-link on the A16u)
Now I need to connect the 2nd A16u via ADAT into the expansion plate and as Kylie pointed out there is the same signal at the ADAT connectors as there is at the z-link connectors. Now at this stage we're set for 32 channels audio via z-link and ADAT. Even if I'm not spot on I understand more now...
...
Onw question is why couldn't Creamware put a second z-link connector on the Power Sampler??? - Just a question, not a complaint....
...so go eazy!!!
More questions may follow later.

bad explanation it was
The Elektron MachineDrum drummodule and MonoMachine synth have separate outputs A, B, C, D, E and F.
Stereo output A-B contain the effects section.
The volume of the stereo master out, A-B, can be controlled directly by the master volume pot.
To adjust the volume of the other outputs you have to select the sounds first, which is ennoying when you step through
the presets, specially when, like on the MonoMachine, some are output on the 'separate' outs.
You get AD clipping on the lunaboxes for those outputs then.
I would like to have the levels of all Elektron gear Outs to match the inputs of the Luna boxes.
Therefor I would like to have a A16 (offering pro level handling) instead of the two Luna boxes
