Installing DAS Plugs?

I think this is a very basic question but anyway: I thought I had to copy the *.dll file(s) of a plug into the App/Bin Folder in order to make the device work. Now I find that when dropping the sl bi-mode.dev in a project it works (or seems to) without having copied a dll anywhere.
Something´s wrong? And am I right with the app/bin folder for dlls?

.dll?

most scope plugins do not require additional .dlls. they are not vsts. most have a .dev file that goes in the appropriate device folder. some also require additional dsp files that go in the dsp folder.

Copy “.dev” to C:\scope\Devices\Plug-Ins

Copy “.dll” to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins\XTC

Copy “.pre” to C:\scope\Presets

Copy “.dsp” to C:\scope\App\Dsp
