General Scope Discussion or OffTopic Scope Discussion...

Me too I would like to pley for well-conscious forum behaviour.
Did you guys notice the 'General Scope Discussion' forum is used for really anything these days?

As if the word 'general' means you can dump any subject here...like

free samples links, audio editor questions, ProWave aftertouch problems,
headsets questions, specific synth sounds construction questions,
expressing joy at package arrival, asking for specific plugs,
announcing that a specific plugin rocks, IRQ problems, how to use ADAT,
the new Dynatube amps, a good Cubase forum, the pricing of Flexor,
the number of SPL Atacker instances, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Completely insane posts regarding the forum title.

General Scope Discussion means stuff like:

Vista support, 82kHz devellopments, yes or no to a sequencer,
new Sharcs benefits, an external Creamware box or not,
the new hardware line up in the context of the market, Scope vs. VSTi quality,
Scope GUI improvements, (S)Creamware and marketing,
OSX support, etc., and of course the Body Of Ralf.

Otherwise we could ask John to strip all forums except problem solving forum and OT forum, and even the first one...

(and yes, this post belongs in the OT forum ).

PS, we got forever rid of dictator General P. today, but I would like to have a General Scope here ;-
PSs, I remember a few posts in the Tips & Tricks forum asking for tips to solve a specific problem...almost a good joke

For me, most things going on inside/outside my DAW is of General Scope interest. That said, on some points i do agree.

well maybe the forum should be general (audio) discussion, since even though we\re all scope users, there's bound to be topics that are not directly scope related but are still about music making/studio tech and therefore don't really belong in the offtopic forum either.

Also I think the Scope Creativity, Tips and Tricks and Scope Study forums could be merged in to one
At least merge creativity and tips, even the descriptions are almost the same:

Tips and advice for getting the most from Scope. No questions here please.

and

Compare notes on how to get the most from Scope devices, etc.

on a similar note, I think NOAH and ASB forums could be merged into a single "Creamware hardware" forum. I like having less different forum with more posts, than having everything into seperate forums with maybe a handful of posts, but others might not agree with that.


Does this post belong in general scope discussion? Probably not

ps. the ASB forum description has a typo in it. ("klanbgox")


EDIT: I just noticed the subtitle for general scope forum is already

A place to talk about whatever Scope music/gear related stuff you want.

so I guess it's already implied that general, non-scope related gear talk is fine.

Even funnier than people not realising they're not actually posting devices in a 'Device' forum meant for posting Scope devices (plug-ins) is that as soon as you bring it up as being an issue, what happens? You get some chain-yanker starting a new user account & deliberately posting threads in the wrong forum (in this case another non-devices thread posted in Devices today)

It's a loosing a battle when the situation immediately worsens upon someone mentioning it

the best we can do is send a private message to the newbe asking him to pay attention to Planet's structure.
And also the best would be not to answer his question, instead inviting him to start a new thread in a appropriate section and answer there.
