Sennheiser EW 152 G2's

Post by dawman »

I am faced w/ an expensive upgrade in Janurary from the reasonably priced Shure's, which sound like NFL headsets IMHO, to the EW 152's. Before I drop another 3 Large, I was wondering if anyone here has ever worked with these around stage wedges ? The wedges are a constant source of irratation to the Hussie's for 2 reasons, Obstacles while booty shaking, and random feedback due to their excessive use of real estate. From what I inderstand they have the inner workings of the Sennheiser MD series of diaphrams. But I have no experience w/ Sennheisers except for their e935 for live vocals. I have to purchase these within 30 days or they will be gone. They are going for 6 pairs for 500 USD apiece. Usually go for 700-750 per unit.
The UE wireless ear monitors, w/ the DAS Modular mixer will solve all of these troubles during our hardware transition.

hi jimmy

about the wireless mikes , the pic you showed us is not the EW152 but the EW152 G2 ... it's the latest model !!! i don't know if you will buy them as new or second hand but be attentive of this ...

btw, seinheiser is very good for this kind of wireless mikes such as shure (for sure) but personaly; and when i have to work with a lot of them (from 6 to 20) i really prefer seinheiser that is more versatile for the frequeny bands plan.

Here, in europe, it becomes very hard to play with lots of wireless, in each place (town ...) we have to ask the "security authorities" (police, firemen ...) to know which frequencies we can use !!! and this can be different from town to towns ...

So i don't know how this works in usa, but seinheiser is for sure much more versatile (in this range of products ...)
in each brand, high end (and very very ) expansive systems are quite the same on that point .

do the girls sing w/ head sets ?

cheers

Yes they do, they are a pain in the arse right now. Until we get the UE 10's fitted, we will have to jump over wedges on the stage that feedback also. The girls are not enjoying their southern tour so much. But when they come home to LV, they will get new headset mics, the UE 10's, and last but not least the DAS Modular mixer w/ the Lexicon PCM 91, and RMX160. Cubase 4 / DAS MM DAW is also going into play. Life gets better all the time.
The frequency tweaking is important here in USA also. The job of a good monitor man for all wireless set ups is important. JH from UE has given me some tips as he learned the hard way with the spoiled stars on tour here.
I am now giving my gig up at the private club and concentrating on the girls. Seems like I will have my hands full w/ production/scoring/management,etc.etc. So it sure was nice to have you make such a stable, excellant working product. I have no time to get bogged down w/ SFP / Cubase / GVI right now. But the whole show is being upgraded. No more hardware sequencers, no racks of TX816's, or mixers and such. I have a lot of work to do for a while with this. I will keep you posted on it's sucsess / failures.

Thanks Again Brotha' Man Olive,

I was in disbelief when I opened up a DVD that was sent to me from my sponsor at UE. It was a copy of the concert in Dublin at Slane Castle of the Celtic Woman show. WTF is this for. Then I read on. They are using the UE Pro 10's and Hybrid's, w/ the 152's.

So I thought O.K. I will give it a try. I was shocked as I am not a big vocal accapella fan, but I couldn't stop watching these slow moving, seriously white sounding chicks perform. The cameras panned to all who sang along or cried, and the sound quality was awesome, and so well mixed I thought it was pre recorded. Only the percussion, and vocals are live. The reverb tails were perfect for sustaining the ensemble sections. So that fiesty little fiddler was finger syncing afterall. Nothing escapes the eye of scope4live. It is still an unresolved fantasy of mine to be gang raped by female violinists.

So Sennheiser has a winner on their hands. From what i've heard and read these mic sets pick up little noise due to their pattern design. And have the usual Sennheiser quality. Their e935 is a great sounding mic for a budget priced item. And I must admit the Celtic woman sounded so fresh to me. I doubt i would go out and buy shroomz and blunts to catch their next show, but the reason UE has done so well is they reach the consumer electronics, and the custom pro audio as well. It's nice to have such sucsessful friends.

Well maybe I can talk the Hussie's into doing a slutty rendition of Danny Boy. Not !!!

Oh Danny Boy, Yo' bitch be callin',
