Dynamic EQ
in fact i was answering a thred about dynamic eq !!!hubird wrote:strange conversation Olive...specially for a 3rd party develloper.
Tell me, was you really thinking Astroman was involved in a serious 'mastering' task?![]()
You don't have a clue sometimes what is actually going on here, isn't it?
you have a good talent for underestimating us (all)
and the thread derived to multiband compressors ... vith some very funny set ups ...
my conclusion, (what i understood) is that dynamic parametric equalisation is not understood by everyone !!! btw i don't care, there's a thread that explains it very well ... there is also a very usefull plug in for this (see www.digitalaudiosoft.com ) that's all i can do for your knowledge ...
blah blah are boring me !
cheers,
olive

i don't understand this sentense !!! hard to translate for me sorry

ehhm, that's what I'm talking about, those setups are not 'funny'...sonolive wrote:and the thread derived to multiband compressors ... with some very funny set ups ...
In fact, when you say 'funny', you mean 'wrong', as if they are a result of not understanding the principles of multiband compression.
Relax, I just wanne make clear to you, that you don't get the point ('clue'), you're missing what it was about...it was about experimenting, about fast comparing of different eq-s behaviour in relation to band splitting, etc.
If you call them 'funny', if you write what you did write in your last posts (rather scynically, wasn't it?), you show that you are missing the point...
I can't make it more clear

in fact these experimental setups showed that the principals and main problems are very well understood...in casu the risk of the band's overlap/phase coloring in relation to the steepness of the (combined) filters.
Not sure if this helps...

here you will have a full explanation of how it works,
but some here will surely give you a funny alternative explaination of it !!!

I'll just give you a shorter version
the parameters of an eq (frequency, bandwidth, gain) are controlled by the parameters of a loudness envelope (ADSR, level), either by the same signal or an external one via sidechain.
DJMicron (and MCCyrano in the link above) pointed out the similiarity to a multiband-compressor, which could be called a specific instance of the genre.
The techniques is known since there are de-essers. Btw in the very same link MCCyrano mentions the same concerns regarding the frequency bands, as I've done on the previous page
cheers, Tom

at least it holds #2 on my personal scale of most obscure Scope Devices
it's a pity that one already knows it's got dynamic and eq functions - otherwise it would be even more challenging to find out what's going on (this is a positive comment btw - I know that it would be totally clear by a look into the manual)
btw #1 is still occupied by that veeery old filTHr (or what it was called) by DeVice (?) which I never solved - but I liked the creative interface approach

I think the most obscure aspect of it to most potential users is the semi-modular dynamics architecture. On a (I'll call it) 'standard' dynamic eq, you can expect a built-in gate per band, giving you dynamic control of the gain on whichever frequency band you select. MOVEQ+ takes this concept to a completely different level, giving you semi-modular dynamic modulation of frequency, quality factor & gain on every band of the 2, 4 & 8-band versions including selection of external audio signals as modulation sources per band.astroman wrote:at least it holds #2 on my personal scale of most obscure Scope Devices
