I have a 12V battery of 7AH. I think is lead metal based. It was quite cheap, about 12 Euro, but it weighs a lot.
I know there are batteries like used on laptop, Li-ion, but the seem very expensive. And get a 7ah one may cost a lot.
If anyone knows where can find a battery of aprox 7ah with less weight than the lead ones, and afordable price, can you give me a link?
Battery options for Mamga+laptop
I don't think there is a rechargable battery that that outperforms sealed lead types in regard to high current for a low price.
Lithium Ion and Ni metalhydrid batteries are (custom) built according to specs from the respective same 'base' cells by a mixture of parallel and serial connections.
Soldering them can be extremely dangerous, as can be the loading of any of these with inappropriate gear - the loader must EXACTLY match the battery type (!)
I'd stick with the leads - the loader isn't too complicated, they are cheap and robust and (with proper enclosure) can serve well as workwout gear for your muscles
cheers, Tom

I think with the 2-slot Magma there is a DC power brick option, which may be required for battery operation.
The 1-slot Magma can use a battery (can't remember the voltage) as standard as far as I can remember.
The magma.com site should have answers to your questions somewhere, otherwise email them, their support was decent enough in my opinion.
