Hi,
Normally, you should one PCI slot sharing irq with your video card, one sharing irq with another PCI slot (you should put your I/O audio cards in both, sharing irq each other), 1 sharing the irq with some mother board ressource, and 2 PCI slots free of irq sharing in which you should put your pulsar.
SX3 + XTC mode
Hi,
Disable all your onboard peripherals, install your pulsar, restart, install your 2 audio cards in a config where they both share the same interrupt by trying different PCI slot, once it is ok then restart, check there is no conflict, then enable your onboard peripherals one by one by checking at each steps there is no conflict. This part is a bit tedious!
before to start a fight with your hardware and in order to check if your current config is OK, you could do the masterverb test in SFP mode and reach about 15 instances (check the masterverb test thread)

a pci usb card would be a bad idea. just disable the usb controller that is causing problems. the other controllers and all the ports will still work. my motherboard has 2 usb controllers that i disabled in the device manager, but there are two other controllers that run 2 dongles(cubase and logic) as well as a usb controller and anything else(usb hard drive for backing up data, etc). you don't need a bunch of extra crap on your music computer anyway. a cluttered system will only work poorly. On 2006-05-17 10:21, VJohnny wrote:
But as you can see the onboard USB is shared on every slot.
if i disable the usb ..i can not use a lot of hardware stuff in my studio.
the only thing i can try is to buy i usb pci card and not use my onboard usb.then connect my studio stuff to that card to get rid of the irq sharing.
it's true that all slots share with usb, but they do so at various levels. in other words, if you have enough free irqs, most sharing won't happen. it's not until irqs run out that the slots begin to share. disabling unused peripherals and ports in the bios will fix that problem.
XTC can be dangerous, if you know what I mean ...
Don´t get me wrong! Don´t want to be sarcastic!
I also spent some time tweaking and fiddling to get XTC to work with Logic 5 but it never ran stable.
BUT: I found out, I really don´t need it!
before a religious war starts:
All I want to say is, if XTC doesn´t work, try working in SFP-Mode and don´t sell your cards!! Give it another try!

Jan
