Is this allright ?
I have a PowerSampler card secondhand, and it uses these mini din plugs for midi i/o .
It should come with 2 midi adapter cables, witch I DONT have.
Can anybody help and check if these connections are good ?
Scope Home, PowerSampler and Luna2 users, please help.

I would just buy a DIN to PS/2 (computer-)keyboard adapter from a PC shop.
It's an exotic part today, but supermarket-like shops usually still carry them.

I have no idea if the wiring matches, but it's hard to imagine that CWA made custom cables when these things were around.
to be honest: I'm writing this on a Cherry keyboard that has such a plug, ...designed for Win95 and Netware approved

Thanks for the reply, Tom.
That's wat I did, and the picture above is the wireing of that adapter.
I just have a hard time trusting standarisation in the computer field, but it sounds to me that you believe it to be save.

I'm kind of gathering courage to try it out, thinking, how bad can it get if I mess up, the optocouplers should prevent any damage (I hope).
Still, it would be nice to be sure beforehand, and somebody with these 2 cables has a meter to check it out.

I've got a pulsar 1 card as well, and am kind of pushing it foreward, scared to install them before I know all these details.

One other question I am pondering is,
what card should I install first, the Powersampler, or the Pulsar 1?
The Powersampler is more recent, but the pulsar is bigger.
At the moment I'm betting on the powersampler.
Does it matter?

as you already found out: the cables cannot do any harm - except for the wallet if they have the wrong wiring

It's a good idea to start with the Powersampler as it's got the faster IO system.
This matters with latency (Pulsar One cannot go below 13ms at 44k) and PCI bandwidth.
After adding the Pulsar, check the DSP meter if the 3 or the 4 DSP card is on top - it should be the 3 DSP card.

You need a S/TDM cable to connect the 2 cards internally, which you hopefully have.
If not, install just one of the cards.

cheers, Tom

Astroman, you are THE MAN.
You have put most of my thoughts in to words, thank you !
I've put my question in the "Problem Solving" thread asswell, and someone tried the adapter you described and of wich I've drown a picture, and it works !!
So, my main worries are over, and it's time to install some drivers

I dont have a S/TDM cable yet, but I saw one adverticed in Thomann for 15 euros.
Maybe I find one closer (I live in Amsterdam).

But no hurry, I will start with the Powersampler/2496 8 I/O Breakoutbox combination and when it all works well i hope I've gotten a S/TDM cable for the pulsar.

Marcus
