Hello,

I'm looking for some different experiences & varying methods of note sequencing in modular without using the note sequencers. For example, how many of you use an oscillator as a sequencer?

cheers

Do you have Flexor? I personally don't use step-seqs too often in Modular but the only way I know of to get really tight sequencing going is with the Ramp module in Flexor. Since this is an audio sync source (effectively a saw LFO) you can shape it and generally do all kinds of weird stuff to it to mess with sequences live.

John Bowen used 'endless delaylines' to generate the rythmic pattern in his RD Drum Sequencer - there's a PCI load penalty, tho.

Thanks for the replies. Dark, we don't have Flexor yet.

I think I need to explain the sort of thing I'm asking about more clearly. Basically I'm wondering if anyone uses the modular for sequencing the old fashioned way. A good example would be the most basic form of arpegio creation, whereby you mix 2 OSC signals, a square wave transposed down an octave & a pulse wave variable from square to pulse. You then sync & pitch down those two OSCs to say 0.2Hz & modulate the frequency of another OSc with them. The result in this case would be a four note sequence with variables as diverse as groove/shuffle using the variable pulse width.

Is anyone interested in this sort of stuff?

Do you ever use any similar methods for SFX etc?

This kind of sequencing is a big part of Flexor.

You're gonna love it, Shroomz

I bet your right Wayne! Sometime this year we'll get flexorized

Yo'Brotha'Man Shroomz,
Don't hesitate as this + Modular will make you Upright. My fiancee feeds me at my keyboards now, what a gal, eh. And when she's really feverish, she plays my upright while I play Flexor and Solaris. Just like yesterday, and I get on my knees and pray,......sorry, I still love the old guys from the Who,Yes,ELP,Zeppelin.....etc. If it wasn't for the Joplin,Hendrix, and the Doors you chaps would've stole the world again. Don't worry us Yanks'll keep ya straight.
