Good Graphics PCIe card for Scope.
I will be upgrading soon. Looks as though I can use an Asus board w/socket775 for D820 until the Conroe comes out later. I would like to get my rig up and running soon, but have been spoiled recently by 3 LCD's run on a Logic based PC, not Mac. But the video card is a Matrox P750. I think that the old G450's, and G550's have shown to be very audio friendly, would this new Matrox card be a good choice for Scope? I would only have a need for dual LCD's, but hey I could use the 3rd one when I start using SMPTE/video in the studio this fall. 3D is not a big deal for me.
Matrox has a new solution that has very specific limitations, but might be a way to get 3 monitors going again with reasonable gear: any dual head card and 3 matching monitors. Oh, its analog vga only too...

Personally I wouldn't use it, I'd rather have a single HD-aspect lcd driven at high res with a smaller second monitor for my 2nd pc. However its a novel solution that may appeal to some users, especially those who DON'T play games but need increased productivity.
And actually I'm still using CRT monitors because of the amount of graphics related work I do...

I prefer CRT monitors visually, but the space wasted on the desktop has to be accounted for with screen resolution & most importantly ... price. With mention of which, we will move swiftly on to the fact that, yes we say yes which will be rememberred [tears] [tears] as the generation that said 'yes', not f*cking 'no'.
The latest lcd screen used by dell & apple for their 23" and 30" lcd screens are about the only one so far that is up to the hitachi 22" crt screens I have been using for 9 years... (you can still buy them but they're $800, down from $1400 8 years ago).

23" HD Wide Sceen Aluminum Apple Cinema Display here,
Absolutely brilliant screen, amazing colors and I used to use a 19" Viewsonic CRT as a comparison, the brightness is amazing and the clarity is incredible at 1920 x 1600 or what ever native rez is hehe. It's a bit over priced compared to the dell, but gorgeous. The only bonus to using and paying more for the apple is the fire wire hub that the dell does not come with.
I also use a 17" LCD for my scope system on the side, not nearly as nice but it works well since the only thing that ever gets displayed in that window is SFP.
Cheers!
