Considering sometimes usefull the graphical display of waveforms, I dowloaded Winscope, some time ago.
Now, cause the triggering difficulties of the above mentioned utility, I'm wondering about more developped similar applications.
software oscilloscope
It's perhaps not as 'developed' in terms of functions as winscope, but s(M)exoscope by Smartelectronics is compact & very capable. It also has an excellent resolution. You can find it <a href="http://bram.smartelectronix.com/plugins.php?id=4">here at Smartelectronics</a>

Voxengo SPAN VST:

quite nice FFT display, good for comparing & analyzing frequency content
Elemental Audio INSPECTOR:

Not quite as high resolution but still quite useful for freq analysis, also has peak & rms metering...
Smartelectronix Fre(a)koscope:
-> http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/ffttools/
Fre(a)koscope is an FFT-based real-time spectrum analyzer featuring: lin/log/semitones/third-octave/Bark scales
- window size selection
- frequency zooming
- freeze
- peak hold
- cursor information (amplitude+frequency)
DestroyFX RMS BUDDY:

Will track RMS & Peak levels

imho the best free oscilloscope (and much better than most non free ones)
dont be fooled by the analizer, it is a better oscilloscope than it is an FFT analizer.

What about this?

Just checking it out at now, but looks really great, even as FFT analizer.
[added] sorry, "really great especially as FFT analyzer" could sound more kind under the circustances[/added]
An USB interface is even available for any external signal measurements (a way to avoid any risk for audio boards, if working with custom electronics)

Considering it as FFT analizer :
-amplitude and frequency zoom
-amplitude and frequency info with snap
-octave band analysis up to 1/24
-resolution above 1 Hz.
At now I'm up to the custom function in the wave generator: up to 19 partials with adjustable freq and amplitude. Very useful synthesizing complex waveforms using Fourier' series.
I'm also trying to understand the phase measurement tool..
Despite it's freeware, ABSOLUTELY NOT TO TRASH AWAY, imho.
