R u talking about puting a flat panel in a flight case? If you are, I'd say don't bother, as they're mostly not worth spending money protecting unless you've paid a fortune for your flat panel/s.
There are obviously rack mount flat panels which fit into a standard 19' rack which would be ideal for all sorts of portable solutions.

I use 2 LCD's,one with what DJ showed us, and another mounted on my keyboard stand for 25 USD. The stand is the actual rack, and the rackmount kit is the accessory to that. It is the Standtastic 2 tier, 60 inch. Musicians Friend here in USA sell it w/ the accessories for 140 USD.

Trust me 15 inch is barely acceptable IMHO. 8 inch? Why not get those sunglasses from Sony that have LCD in the R/L eye, like our Apache pilots use. The DJ I know here in Las Vegas uses them. He has had them for 4 years!! You don't want people looking at you, looking at your screen during the gig, they think you are loading your next recording,i.e. faking it. But hey, Brittany Spears gets away with it. But I guess because Mikey H.( Techman )uses Pro Tools, they let it slide.
I saw a thing on a server which was a computer monitor and keyboard and the monitor part folds back (finding)

That one's probably more expensive than on the Cisco systems servers.
Jeez they're expensive.
