Hello,

I bought a Minimax ASB yesterday thinking it'll be a great addition to my midi setup.I knew all the bugs but sound of the unit was so good that ý thought I could live with them.

Everything was normal till I loaded the latest OS(At least I could play the unit before).

Everytime I opened minimax, it sends MIDI data that Logic crashed or not responded till I closed the unit.

Later I turned MIDI control off and the problem solved. But everytime I open the ASB I have to turn midi control off.

Later when I hit the user button It was not turning off till I restart the unit.

I uninstalled my Unitor 8 and Photon 25 including drivers and reinstalled minimax software and loaded the latest OS twice.I also checked with Cubase and nothing changed.

Minimax is ok till I open the sequencer.

I'm waiting a reply from CW, hope they can fix this because I bought ASB to make music not to spend 3 hours try to make it work and being unsuccessfull.

Maybe someone can help me here,

Thaks,

you should capture that midi dump the box sends on startup (preferably with something else than the sequencer) and inspect it.
if it isn't garbage you could load it into the sequencer (without the ASB active) and see if the instructions crash it again.
if not then it's probably a buffer flooded by too fast data. There may be delay required, but that's just a guess - I don't have that box myself.
Anyway, I wouldn't consider it the right point in time yet to ask tech support - there are still too many things in your own setup to check, which CWA cannot know about.

cheers, tom

astroman's assessment seems on target to me.

i'm a little confused about exactly what you are trying to do. i suspect tech support is confused as well if the email has gotten there.

the first obvious question i want to ask is, what happens when you open minmax before opening the sequencer?

and there's more... what controller are you using and are you sure you're not creating a feedback loop when you open the sequencer? do you have midi thru functioning in the seq or connected in any bit of hardware? what EXACTLY is your signal flow?

Hello,

My setup is:

Logic 5.5.1 running on XP SPack 2,
E-MU 1212m
Emagic Unitor8(USB),
Alesis Photon 25(USB),
Nord Rack2,Drumstation2,Waldorf Pulse,Yamaha TX802 and Minimax.

Local control is off on all sound modules.

First I connected Minimax to Unitor8 with MIDI.Minimax works fine with remote software. But when I open the logic it sends data tru Unitor 8's midi outs and my system crashes.

Later, I tried every MIDI setting in the menus and found a solution but there were other problems.

First there's no way to turn the user button off once you hit it,or the user button switches from preset button after I change a number in preset bank.

Second,Sync settings change in Logic everytime I open minimax.

I also tried 1212m's midi connections.Still same.

Later I disconnected Unitor8,Photon25 and uninstalled all the drivers.

I connected only Minimax with USB to my PC.Same problem.

I also tried Minimax with Cubase LE.Nothing changed.

Next week I'll try wit another MIDI interface because Unitor 8 is dead yesterday.

It may be a setup mistake but why my other midi gear work without any problems?

I send e-mails to rb@creamware.de and support@creamware.de 5 or 6 times this week.

I'll also check the Minimax on another PC and let you know.

Thanks for all the information,

Aykut

"Everything was normal till I loaded the latest OS(At least I could play the unit before)."

atleast we have a clue

Your answer is, for the time being, that you had a faulty OS upgrade. Give Andre a mail, im sure he can instruct you how to flash your ROM properly.

Good luck!

Hi,

I found the solution

Turning the program change events off in MIDI filter menu solved the probem.I won't be able to use program change function with other midi gear but it's okay for now.

I had time to test the unit today and
I have to say Minimax is much better compared to Arturia Minimoog and it's filter is very close to Waldorf Pulse.Very successful.

Thanks for all the information,

Aykut.
