hi.
new to the zplanetboards.
did a search on this issue but did'nt find a solution in any other thread.
i recently plugged in my Pulsar II which i have'nt used in quite a while.
i installed Scope 4.0 and everything seemed to work fine.
But when i try to record my external gear via the [Analogue source] module to the [Wave Dest] into SoundForge 8 or Wavelab the recordings gets filled with transient spikes.
cant figure out why cause this setup worked fine before but with OS 2.4
i really need some help solving this problem.
i've tried this so far.
* another lowohm inputcable
* lowered the ULLI setting from 7 to 13ms
* locked the HDvirtual memory to 5gigs
* using the SpDif and slaved pulsar to DATmachine
* lower the inputvolume
* calibrated the DC adjust in soundforge
* made sure the Pulsar has exlusive IRQ
* updated drivers for grafix card
* emailed the creamware support
the problem still remains.
my recording krackle and pops and are completley unusable.
playback works flawless but recording is a disaster.
any ideas?

i configured SoundForge with the ASIO driver connected the audio input to the ASIO destination module and by some stroke of magic the jitters where gone. thanx for the hint.
i almost figured there was an easy solution to it, still... why don't the WaveDest1 work @ standard 44.1Khz?
it did before with 2.04. programming flaw?
main thing i can use audioinput!
thanx again for the hint Bassdude

Welcome to planetz RundFyrkant! Hope you can get your problem sorted!

it kind of worked out by using the ASIOdriver like bassdude suggested. but it's not an optimal soultion since i wont be able to run Soundforge and Cubase side by side like i used to before.
So the problem is still active even though it's worked around now. hope a soulution will turn up.
If you're having crackles with the wave drivers and do NOT use sonar (or another app that you want LOW LATENCY wav driver operation with) try this:
1. go into the Control Panel, open "Sounds & Audio Devices".
2. on the "Hardware" tab in Sounds & Audio Devices select your scope card (any will do if more than one) and click the "Properties" button at the bottom.
3. In the properties window/panel go to the "Settings" tab and adjust the "Output Preload" slider towards the "Big" side.
This should fix any problems that aren't related to cpu usage and/or exotic issues like Hyperthreading.

i'm really sorry tried that too and it still crackles. i also tweeked the recordingbuffer in Soundforge.In the properties window/panel go to the "Settings" tab and adjust the "Output Preload" slider towards the "Big" side.
i don't want to get stuck in this!
there must be a way. keep suggestions commin.
i'm all ears.
here's my thought's on your problem.
>>> 5 gig of virtual memory seems too much. I hope it's not located on the same partition you're trying to record to, as that would not be good, even if not the main problem source.
>>> Recording in Soundf****, although quick and easy, is not particularly good practice as the recording features aren't the best of what it can offer & we too noticed regular glitches when recording in it. This may well be XP related, but I never found a solution.
>>> As mentioned already, recording with VDAT (the tool designed for this job on Scope) solves the problem & delivers pristine glitch free recordings on demand as well as giving you MUCH more recording flexibility. Stack 'em up high for more virtual tape tracks at once than your computer can handle
>>> If you're adament about using SoundF****, you might try answering Arela's question from earlier in the thread regarding samplerate. Ie:- What samplerate is soundforge set to record at & which WAV I/O modules are you using exactly?
Another couple of questions. >>
>>>Why slave Scope permanently to your DAT? Surely you could just switch over to that when needed? Is your DAT's internal clock better than Scope's? Anyway, that shouldn't be the issue, I was just wondering.
Well there's a few questions & thoughts from someone recovering from a seizure & looking for an address to send the doctors bill to

i'ts exactly 44.1KhzWhat samplerate is soundforge set to record at & which WAV I/O modules are you using exactly?
thanks for all the software and recording suggestions. the absoulte final option is to
buy new software or reformat my system.
all tweeks and test i've done so far leave the wave dest module unusable and that's the main issue.
and about that bill:
