which is relly the best way to work with scope and nuendo as a sequencer?
i use scope in normal mode and i have 2448 usually, with about 16 to 24 asios io's.
so i send to nuendo and nuendo sends back to scopes mixer.
i keep nuendo flat and i make the hole balence from scopes mixer.
i read somwere in tips n tricks that there can be asigning of nuendo and scopes mixer.
is that good?
what is this for? why should i asihgn myscopes mixers volumes and rest to nuendos mixer via midi?

also, do you think that i am correct when i say that i keep nuendo flat?
when is nuendo flat?
when is scopes mixer flat?

i mix every audio channel outside nuendo, so, i keep all mixer channels in flat mode and all the work will be done with stm 2448.

for tracking, i use stereo output from the sequencer. for mixing, individual outs from the app's mixer. i do use grouping occasionally(to save time, process as a group, or to automate aux sends easily). i often use volume, pan, aux and mute automation in the sequencer to make things easy.

what about asigning each volume of stm2448 to sequencers mixer?
is it a good idea?

What do you mean by 'asigning each volume of stm2448 to sequencers mixer'?

via midi singals from scopes mixer and vice versa to nuendo mixer.
for example: if i raise channel 1 volume, the same to happen to channel 1 volume in nuendo.
actually i am trying to be very fast and with the best results when working on a project.
so far my configuration is as follows.
please tell me your opinion.
i use 2448stm.
i use 24 stero asio2 in outs.
nuendo is the sequencer.
24 stereo asio in/outs in nuendo enabled as well.
all audio channels outs in nuendo are set to the default first asio L/R output.
and each audio sends to individual channels 1,2,3,4,5..... to scopes mixer.
at first i didn't
use any sends, ijust gave singal from the outs of the channels of nuendo.
afterwards i realized that if i whanted to extract the audio from nuendo i had to set the audios to the default audio out. so i had the audios already from the begging of the project set to give singal to the default asio out and at the same time send to different scopes channels.
so every audio channel of nuendo sends two singals, one to the default asio L/R(red coloured louspeaker) and 1 to scopes mixer channel(set from "sends")

i suppose this is needed because the audio result from many channels playing is somewhat different than the same channels given from one stereo channel.

hmm, no, I would change a few things.
Keep it simple and streight.

1. In Nuendo (I use old Cubase 5), route all audio tracks (mixer-channels) that don't need any Scope effect to Nuendo's ASIO master out bus, and via ASIO lead it to a dedicated clean channel of the Scope mixer, streight to mix-out.
(Of course, use insert or/and send effects in Nuendo where needed).
This is your clean 'collect' route, it's always there to f.e. dump any bounced track to

2. Route all Nuendo send effects to the same (clean) master channel.
(Unless you want to manipulate this or that Nuendo effect in Scope, in that case use a second Nuendo ASIO bus out.
Normaly you don't need effects on effects.
Summing chanels to one isn't a problem at all, it are the musical choices you make that do matter ).

3. Give any Nuendo track that needs special treatment in Scope a separate ASIO bus -out and therefor a separate Scope mixer channel, to add insert or send effects of your choice.
Try to 'group' the tracks to the appropriate busses where possible, to keep things clear a bit.

4. Don't mess with 'linked' fader volumes in Scope and Nuendo, much too complicated.
Think linear, you start in Nuendo, bus everything to Scope, and monitor from there on.
Keeping Nuendo 'flat' (keeping volumes and everything at o dB or default) is for the purists, don't worry about that, make music instead
Don't want to be too smart, the one that finishes a nice song first is the smartest

5. Wanne record a midi track, or bounce an audio track together with it's effects?
Simplest way yet very safe do this: first make sure you always monitor the mixer's master out ( you'll hear exactly what you record...)

Route this same mixer-out also to your ASIO destination (any output can have more than two output wires), to be able to stream it into Nuendo.

In Nuendo, solo the track that you want to record (or bounce), and record...
Enjoy while listening to this proces

(Don't insist on 'export audio', it's quality seems to be less, and it works only on the master bus, profis don't use it).

Also, combine tracks if you want, to bounce them to a stereo track (like drums).

6. Wanne record the whole mix?
Solo all tracks and...ehh no, just play everything and record the Scope mixer's stereo-out on a fresh Nuendo track

7. Wanne record more channels at once on separate tracks?
Solo those tracks, and learn to use the Scope mixer's bus routing, and route the busses to different ASIO channels to record those on different tracks in Nuendo, therefor check Nuendo's multitrack recording settings.
I myself never use this function

8. And globally: use automation in Nuendo where needed, and record midi cc controlls for Nuendo VST(i)'s and for Scope synths/effects/mixer etc.
Just use whatever you need to controll the mix

This is in a few words the way I do it, you can check the results on http://www.ezsound.nl to see what's wrong with it

Keep it simple and linear, and all will be fine
Hope I didn't tell you the obvious

pretty much the same here, although i use an external deck to mix down serious tracks and another app(samplitude or magix music studio's audio studio, wavlab, etc would work also) via 24bit wav module as a two track deck..

when doing a final mix, most all cubase, logic or sonar tracks go out individual asio outs into individual inputs in a scope mixer, usually stm2448. the mixers mix out feeds the 2 track deck, either external or internal. normally in the real world, you'd want to keep the channel faders as close to zero as possible. this is because of the noisefloor, which is not an issue inside the computer. in the computer, the disadvantage of lowering the fader is the loss of bitdepth, not an issue at 24bits nessessarily except in extreme settings. basically, if it sounds good in the monitors and the recording is realtime, one would expect the recording to sound much the same. trust your ears. i think it's fine to send a channel in cubase to an input in the scope mixer and then automate the volume in cubase. the gains outweigh the losses. the reason why you would want to mix in scope is the use of scope effects, ESPECIALLY delays, compressors and eqs, and even more importantly SUMMING. there is no way that cubase can combine 10 or 20 channels(signals) anywhere near as well as your scope card can! dsps are REALTIME. for cubase to commandeer the resources needed to properly sum 20 audio steams, the pc could not run cubase.... by summing in scope, your mixes will have much better depth and focus, a richness...

everyone is so LAZY! it's very easy to switch apps...as easy as navigating a tabbed browser on a porn search.....

Ok, for the summing issue you could choose for assigning an ASIO bus to every Nuendo track (channel).
I still have to check that once, to see if I can hear the difference
cheers.

You will...

With Cubase (I use both VST32 and SX3.1, each one is better for something) I keep the flat mixer, send tracks to independent asio outs, and use exclusively scope processing. Only fades are done in Cubase.

@ Arela, Arcadios.: my pleasure

@ Alfonso: I'll check summing in my current song, as I feel the need for more air in it, thanks also

You say you keep the channels of the Cubase mixer flat, but are you still using insert or send effects on those?
With really low volumes at least the send levels could be hard to 'level', isn't it?

I guess that editing the 'dynamics' in the audio editor is the same as editing the channels faders, technically, is that true?
Thanks, h.
