I've been trying out the JD800 for modular 2 but can't seem to get a sound out of it. I put the sample bank in the sfp/samples folder but I think it's noit loading them - I wasn't sure which format to use either (standalone - wasn't sure what that referred to as its a modular synth - or modular)

you must load the sample pool inside the scope routing window and then open the modular patch.

i've checked it now on scope 4.5 and the samples are not loaded, but in 4.0 it's ok.
I don't know if it's an incompatibility issue of the 4.5 version...

I'd rather consider a change in pathname that prevents access

I'm still using 4.0 and I've tried dragging the sample pool standalone version into the project and then loading the mdl patch as well as placing the modular sample pool in the samples folder but either way it still won't play the patches. Pity - looks a nice synth.

Are you on Mac or PC? I heard of some problems with the sample pool on Mac, but the patch should work fine in v4.0 for PC (haven't tried 4.5 myself).

Doesn't matter about putting the sample pool into any particular folder, what you should do is:
A drag the standalone sample pool into your project.
Make sure your using the standalone sample pool which has the JD800 samples pre-loaded into it, which can be found here:
http://www.modularsynth.co.uk/downloads ... 20Pool.zip

Then drag the patch into your project. selecting a preset should now work OK.

Good luck, and let me know how you get on.

Cheers,
Ben

Thanks - I've redownloaded the pool and the patch but I'm afraid its still not working. I drag the pool into the project, then the Jaded800 mdl and connect it up and it plays fine on the initial settings but as soon as I click on a preset it stops making a sound even though I can see it finding all the samples correctly and the knobs move into position.

What's your installation path for SFP.

I just installed SFP 4.5 into a E:/SFP4.5 and the sample pool wouldn't work. I then reinstalled to E:/SFP45 and that fixed the problem.

If you can bear to reinstall, that might help fix things.

Also, does the Mod 2 'Standard Sample Pool' patch work for you? If not, sounds like the same problem I had.

Cheers,
Ben

C:/SFP

Still running 4.00 here - I've bought the upgrade and installed the new synths and effects but was trying to avoid a reinstallation. Why do you think it made a difference?

Just tried the Standard patch - that works fine.

I only meant reinstalling things might help if you had installed to a path that SFP doesn't like. For me, going from e:sfp4.5 to e:sfp45 solved problems loading wav's in all devices (modular, zarg, etc) but it doesn't sound like this is your problem.
Sorry I don't know what else to suggest.

Ben

It's OK I seem to have fixed it but I'm not sure how. I just tried the patch again with the Sample pool dragged into the project and it worked. But it definately wasn't before. Very strange. The only thing I've changed recently is that I've installed a utility that enables me to permanently assign Scope's affinity to one CPU so I can keep Hyperthreading turned on generally but exclude apps that don't like it. Don't see why it would be that though unless it was some sort of CPU overload or something.

Apart from that I did recently install a few DSP files that came with the new version of Solaris but I doubt it's that.

Anyway thanks for the help and the patch is great now I can play it

Glad you got it working - and glad you like the patch. The sample pool can be useful in other contexts as well. I use those JD waveforms in some of the Zarg synths (Pro Plus, Ambient, Solaris) with good results.

Cheers,
Ben
