which is the best way to playback audio files?
which is the best way to playback audio files(wav) on the pc?
for example, if i want to use my pc as a player and send via aes/ebu to a dat recorder, which program is the best and most aqurate solution?
is it the same just playing a loaded wav from nuendo? wavelab? soundforge? adobe audition?
is the sound quality the same sent from asio instead of wave from scopes mixer?

it depends from the resolution of the files and from the drivers you have loaded in sfp.
for 16 bits files, you can use winamp or wavelab without quality differences.
for 32 bits files, you must use 32 bits capable drivers, such as the "asio1 32 source 64" and a 32 bits playback application, such as nuendo, samplitude or wathever.
The vdat is another solution, but you must record your songs @ 32 bits with the vdat engine to hear the difference.

Stardust, isn't audacity the GNU's SoundForge? Looks a bit complicated to play files, especially if you want to throw a bunch in the list.
Since John Cooper showed us foobar, see the link from alfonso, it's my main audio player, besides winamp, on Windows. Foobar supports any audio format, does mass tagging, replay gain, and indespensible I find the multiple playlists. Hell, before I had a Linux server here, foobar was my alarm clock too. All of it's options are additions through modules, so you make it as bloated as you want - except for the GUI, which remains so simple and intuitive IMO. Couldn't live without
There's no audio player (in the sense of media player) on our DSP's, closest would come a sampler or VDAT, but those make simple file playing quite a tough job.
[edit] hint: Avoid DirectX drivers when possible on Scope. Use the 24bit wave drivers instead

I too vote for Foobar. Since atOm told me about it, it has been a great experience. I recomend it for you too Arcadios, it is VERY fast and great to drag and drop lets say... 100 files at the same time, no problem, it will play them all instantly. Contrary to what happens with Media Player that will most surely stop loading the files or even stop your stack your windows altoguether.
When you look for more answers like now, you should also ask more questions and be precise about the way you ask those questions. The question you have posed is too wide open and it is difficult to know what you really know and what you are referring too. It is important when we ask technical questions to take the time to ask with some detail, so you can get good, complete answers too.
Said that, I have to say that Foobar plays any bit rate, and any kind of file, so there is no stop for you, it’s an excellent tool for musicians, it is almost created for us, and it is also very light.

do players on wave drivers have different sound quality than asio players or is it only a matter of latency?
in fact there are some differences in sound.
listening with senheizer 650, i thought that sound forge for example was a less wide than wavelab on a 16-44.1 wav.?????
but i realy whould like to know which is the most high end way to give audio signal through scopes outs to dat for example.

I guess I am one of the few in here. I do not like FooBar2000. It does things, that I do not want it to do - like messes up a play-list, when I click a link to a web-radio. Also I do not like the overall handling of the play-lists, where they are all visible and takes up screen space. Maybe I did not go deep enough into it. I also think it gave me a few stability problems. I use winamp in the old style mode, and it works just fine for me.

Winamp can play back 32-bit files, and there's even an ASIO output plugin that's available. I don't know if the ASIO output plugin supports 32-bit, thougyh.
