which it is your process of mastering?
I use:
VADAT for mixdown (24bit seem better than rec of cubase))
DADEVA23ST,IMPRESSOR MULTIBAND(mix clean preset and bost bass en high )
and enance with L2 all in 24 bit

Now I want try MASTERING COMPRESSOR of SonicTimeworks
someone use MASTERING COMPRESSOR?

I use Optimaster and I ususally chain it with a lot of other creamware devices like psyq,vinco and masterverb pro.

I never tried the Sonic Timeworks' compressor.

Hhhm, not sure i'd chain Vinco and MasterVerb in a mastering chain, but each to his own.

The Sonic Timeworks Master compressor is very good. I use it at the end of my Scope mastering chain: PsyQ/EQ - Optimaster - Reverb - STW Master Comp.
It even has a dither option (which I don't use, can't comment on) to output CD ready 16 bit.
This is a very clean compressor, no grainy artifacts. It can smoothly compress audio that will distort in any other Scope comp.

i'd like to know what settings you guys are using on the global reverb. i have heard of this technique before but are you using small ambient settings? Doesn't everything become a mush?

i tend to just use OptiMaster>PsyQ or just OptiMaster.

I would use a reverb during mastering only if there's no other choice (there is just a stereo track, and it needs reverb).
It works fine normally, just put a low cut filter before the reverb, think of 600-800 Hz or higher as cutoff fr. :smile:
Soloing the reverb makes you decide what frequencies should kept outside the reverb proces, obviously all the lows.
Hicutting at about 4kHz is mostly wishable to keep things calm (no hisses), unless your name is George Michael :grin:

For the reverberation i put reverb in the aux/send bus on the 24/48 no in to master slot,the rec engine of cubase don't like me,prefer Vdat or sound forge via 24bit wave driver for mixdown.
I use for each chanel De-VIce LevelDevil,sound seem very good.
In the master slot of 24/48 Orbitone Impressor Multiband enance very well the low and hi band also this sound very well for me

I'm very curios about your process of mastering ,if you want post here the anserw

my chain:

psyQ without limiter -> Optimaster without limiter -> Har-Bal 2.0 -> Optimaster with limiter and changed crossover settings -> Waves L2 for dithering to 16bit

I usually do a sub-30hz low cut via Timeworks 36db VintagEQ, then a mastering EQ (also with Timeworks), and then mastering compressor (usually Timeworks, but I also occasionally use something else). :smile:

it depends from the kind of track to be mastered.
For example, for my drum and bass tracks i make a very meticulous mixdown, fine tuning each mixer channel and then i do just a process with psy q and a very light process with optimaster keeping the waveform smooth as possible.
