A few questions about Scope 4.5 for those who've upgraded

Hi all,

I have a few questions which I will ask Creamware & thought I'd also ask those who have upgraded & installed Scope 4.5.

I'd really appreciate some factual responses from those running 4.5.

A. Does Scope 4.5 integrate the Noah in any way with a routing module?

B. Does Scope 4.5 integrate the ASB boxes in any way with a routing module?

C. Does Scope 4.5 have any additional features not previously available to Pulsar 1, 2, PowerPulsar, SRB & ScopePro users except what Creamware have announced?

D. Does Scope 4.5 address *any* of the previous SFP version bugs reported by users here on Z ?

E. Have I missed any vital questions we might add to this list ?

So far from what I can see, the only updates are to the manual and the addtion of the SBC, which to be honest looks like a little bit of an afterthought (not included in scope 4.5 manual). All the same it is a really good deal. I thought 98 euros sounded like a good deal for the Noah P5. Now I can get the Scope Pro12, plus B2003, Interpole and VDAT for the same money.

Now this is something I would like to see in the next 'actual' update of the Scope software. Was thinking recently that the Soundcard' source/dest modules could possibly be updated to serve this purpose (communicating with USB audio devices / drivers). If they kept ASB & Noah support as a priority and added midi i/o to the modules it would be a case of problem solved ...sadly it's not. That said, if CW get enough money in from this scope 4.5 deal, we can only hope that the next update will offer more in terms of bug fixes and new devices.

@Stardust, yes I was looking for serious answers to stupid questions ... doh !! Silly me

@Sharc, that sounds like a good way of potentially integrating Noah & ASB into the routing enviroment, which IS i'm sure something that all or most Noah & ASB users would greatly desire... but this wasn't a wishlist, rather it was a set of questions to ask Creamware which I thought we could maybe build into a sensible list to send them, which would save them having to wade through all our juxtaposed & somewhat heated threads & posts. Anyway, pretty pointless as the concensous is that the 4.5 upgrade is just a software bundle deal & not much more ... we shall see

Just because it apparently is not an upgrade for bug fixing or adding features, even if the press announcement suggests something else at first glance.

At least the website has been updated meanwhile. It talks about new bargain bundles now. ...but not about code updates.

If they can respond in that way you'd think they would also reconsider what to do with those of use who already have most of the extras and offer a reduced/free upgrade that takes into account what we already have (as stated like NI and VSL amongst others do)

(I know the 6 string is unlikely for the same reason it's not reduced in other sales)

The simple answer to all this community confusion & chaos is for CWA to release more information to the users here on Z as to WHY They've called this bundle Scope 4.5

This should be a very simple question for them to answer & one which we may have discussed earlier today here on Z ...

would you feel happier if they say, well, it's a registration thingy, and also, we feel better doing so, as that so moderate point-fife attribute symbolizes an important step to the next room, which makes us feel good...

If you really wanne ask CRW some why's, I would ask (if I was you), why they didn't fix the (supposed) bugs (and/or other stuff mentioned in this context) before doing anything else.
Because that is what you're after, you want to discuss their priority settings

Otherwise you get not the answer you wanne get, instead you could get what Gary and me said

Yes, the whole point of the thread was to put together a logical & cohesive list of questions to ask CWA. Instead of 500 emails asking questions, it would be very easy for us to collectively & calmly put together a sensible list to send them from the Z community. Not a petition, just a list of questions we'd all like to ask, which CWA would then have the chance to answer privately. PM's could then be sent to all Z community with the answers rather than airing CWA's dirty laundry in public. It's not such a bad idea, unless you count the fact that we already know a lot of the answers, given that this is apparently not an actual OS update under the 'surface'.

I installed the entire platform at one point (and then rolled it back to 4.0 and just installed the new plugins over it) and I can tell you that YES...

the splash screen that comes up when the platform loads reads '4.5' not '4.0' !!!

Just to clarify that, I take you find the new 4.5 OS 'name' to be the only difference (as someone who's upgraded of course) ?

If I can find a 4.0 install maybe I can run a file-by-file check to see what has changed. I had 4.5 installed and was running into some strange crashes (not to mention an allkeys file that didn't enable the plugins it should have), eventually I couldn't get the platform to start at all so I restored (thank god i had a backup). I should have started with a clean install instead of installing 4.5 on top of 4.0, I admit that. In the short time I was running 4.5, I didn't see anything different in the way the system was behaving in 4.5 from 4.0. But I can't say I really mucked around that much, tested some plugins. I had some problems after installing some OXE files, something seemed to get corrupted (and I couldn't figure out how to delete the 4.0/4.5 platform and start fresh). At this point, I'm waiting till I know *for sure* that 4.5 has some beneficial changes, till then I'll just run the new plugins.

To clarify, I was just shooting off my mouth with my last post, taking a cheap shot at Creamware. I apologize for lowering the level of debate, I was a bit hung over and just waking up.

No worries mate, it's a little surprising that you encountered so many problems, but it's to be expected with a beta of a new OS *if* it is a new OS at all
